Leveraging Swiss Innovation to Advance Digital Trust

Digital technology is swiftly and radically transforming our lives and environment. This profound transformation opens up diverse horizons and unprecedented opportunities but also raises many questions about the future of how we communicate, consume, and work. One thing is however certain: to ensure that this digitization process is beneficial for everyone, it is fundamental to foster a digital landscape in which we can trust.

Digital trust implies that the platforms and technologies we use meet standards of transparency, reliability, fair management, and data protection. A key challenge in the digital world is balancing the desire to continue innovating with the need to ensure that the technologies developed remain safe, transparent, and human-centered, thus facilitating their adoption by users. This presupposes balancing the cultivation of an innovation-stimulating ecosystem while ensuring that digital trust remains a central focus.

Switzerland possesses numerous assets to develop a structured framework, enabling it to successfully tackle this challenge. Recognized as the world’s most innovative country, several aspects underpin this successful performance: high private-sector investments in R&D, support for innovation within research institutions, businesses, and startups, and the creation and continuous development of research infrastructures.

The trust economy in Switzerland is not limited to technological innovation. It also relies on trust relationships among businesses, investors, universities, and government institutions, creating a robust and resilient innovation ecosystem. Public-private partnerships like Trust Valley and the Swiss Digital Initiative (SDI) encourage this collaboration by bringing together these key stakeholders through acceleration programs, incubators, and events.

That's why this year at Viva Technology , swisstech has decided to place the spotlight on this innovation ecosystem set on reinforcing #digitaltrust. This project is made in partnership with Fondation pour l’économie de la Confiance ( unlimitrust ), Swiss Digital Initiative, and with the participation of numerous innovative startups presented by Trust Valley, in collaboration with Presence Switzerland .

At the #swisstech pavilion, you will have the opportunity to test your digital reliability level. Under the supervision of the EPFL , the SDI has established criteria for digitally responsible governance. Based on these criteria, a Digital Trust Label and guide have been developed, along with a tool for self-assessment of responsible governance, which you can test first-hand at the Swiss pavilion. We invite you to join us in our quest for safer, trustworthy digitization - a quest at the heart of Swiss innovation.
