Leveraging Stakeholder Engagement to Achieve Sustainability Roadmaps
In many dynamic business environments, achieving sustainability is not as simple as crafting internal policies and green initiatives—it’s also about engaging the people who matter: our stakeholders. This understanding forms the backbone of our sustainability journey at Apollo Tyres, where we leverage stakeholder insights to drive impactful and responsible business practices.?
The collaborative approach ensures that our sustainability roadmap is not just a set of targets, but a shared vision built on collective action and real-world impact. Here’s how Apollo Tyres leverages stakeholder engagement to drive our sustainability initiatives forward.
Stakeholder Engagement
Apollo Tyres emphasises stakeholder engagement as a critical component of its business strategy, particularly in the implementation of our sustainability vision for 2026. As a result, we actively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including customers, employees, investors, supply chain partners, communities, government bodies, and NGOs.?
We believe that stakeholder engagement is not just about communication but about fostering long-term relationships built on transparency, trust, and mutual benefit. Moreover, their input is crucial in shaping the company's sustainability roadmap, ensuring that it remains relevant and responsive to evolving environmental and social challenges.
Key Focus Areas
We understand that each stakeholder has different priorities. Therefore, we have formed targeted initiatives to further our sustainability objectives.
For example, we engage with customers through various channels, such as direct feedback, customer care services, and digital platforms. This ongoing dialogue helps the company address product quality, safety, and sustainability concerns. We keep our customers updated on climate change and its ESG commitments, aligning its product offerings with evolving consumer expectations for greener, more sustainable products.
Meanwhile, when engaging our supply chain partners, our emphasis on promoting sustainable practices translates to different activities. Regular meetings, field visits, and workshops are conducted to enhance awareness about climate change, ESG requirements, and sustainable procurement practices. Such a collaborative approach ensures that sustainability is integrated across the value chain, from raw material sourcing to final product delivery.

We also conduct internal stakeholder engagement designed to foster a culture of sustainability and inclusiveness. The company conducts regular training sessions and awareness programmes to ensure that employees are well-versed in its sustainability initiatives. Moreover, feedback mechanisms such as employee engagement surveys are instrumental in aligning internal practices with broader sustainability goals.
Double Materiality Assessment
One of the standout initiatives in Apollo Tyres’ stakeholder engagement strategy is its Double Materiality Assessment (DMA), which is conducted in alignment with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The DMA involves consulting both internal and external stakeholders to understand how sustainability factors influence the company’s financial health and its broader impact on people and the planet.?
The results of this assessment guide strategic decisions and ensure that the company’s sustainability roadmap is deeply rooted in stakeholder insights. Thus, it helps us prioritise material topics critical to its business operations and impact on the environment and society.
Implementing the Sustainability Roadmap
Our sustainability roadmap is built on six pillars: Sustainability Governance, Climate Change, Circular Economy, Value Chain, People and Community Development, and Engaging with Communities. Each pillar is supported by cross-functional working groups that collaborate with stakeholders to set targets, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement.
For example, in our efforts to combat climate change, we have set emission reduction targets for FY26 and are committed to becoming Net Zero by 2050. We have already made significant strides, such as implementing renewable energy projects at our manufacturing plants and are in the process of setting up an internal carbon pricing mechanism. Similar to the previous initiatives, stakeholder feedback directly influences these and reflects our commitment to responsible climate action.
Our approach to stakeholder engagement is just one set of examples of how businesses can leverage these interactions to drive their sustainability agendas. However, we believe that maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders ensures that our sustainability roadmap is aligned with its business objectives and addresses the broader and most relevant environmental and social challenges of our time.
