Leveraging Penn State's Resources to Land an Internship
As spring approaches, students across the Bellisario College of Communications are racing to secure internships and summer and fall opportunities. Penn State offers resources to help students navigate their internship search.
From JobExpo.Comm on February 21 to Success in the City on March 21, 2025 in New York City, students have numerous opportunities to connect with media organizations and companies throughout their internship search.?
For senior Broadcast Journalism major Francie Ebert, JobExpo.Comm opened the door to her fall internship at WTAJ. Ebert connected with WTAJ representatives at the career fair, leading to her position at the station.
“Get yourself out there. Build your resume, and it doesn't hurt to have diverse experiences because you can leverage yourself,” said Ebert. “Networking and showing up to these events are crucial.”
Taking initiative outside of Penn State resources led Ebert to another experience - a summer internship in 2024 with Katy Tur Reports at NBCUniversal's MSNBC in New York City.
“You will never know unless you try,” Ebert said. “Just go for it”
With career fairs approaching, the journey to that dream internship begins with a single step forward at Penn State. Like Ebert said, just go for it.
