Whether you’re web3 native, or launching your first NFT product, understanding how to leverage your community to get your message out there is key to successful marketing in web3.
Gm. Today we’re looking at the essential role of community in web3 marketing. Let’s get into it.
Community as a core pillar of web3
In web3, a community is a group of people gathered around a project or collection they believe in. More and more, communities encompass the entire ecosystem where your project is— Ethereum, Solana Foundation , Polygon Labs , Celo Foundation , Base, Bitcoin, etc. Communities are aligned in their values and interests, and can often play an active role in shaping the products and vision of a project.
In the NFT space, community is everything.
An NFT is very rarely just an artwork or a PFP or a collectible…more often than not, it’s also a signifier of belonging. Just look at the biggest NFT projects trending on Base right now—they all have a huge community component.
Trust us—this is not something you can afford to ignore. A vibrant community will sing your praises from the rooftops, they will legitimize your project, and build trust within the ecosystem.
Leveraging community in your web3 marketing strategy
Ok so we’ve established what community is and why it's so important in web3…but how can you leverage your community in your marketing strategy? To answer that, let’s take a look at three of Rarible’s core marketing pillars, and how our community shows up in each.
1. Cross-community partnerships
There’s a lot of amazing work happening in web3, and we often collaborate with projects and chains that have their own vibrant communities, resulting in a boost for us and our partners.?
For example, we’ve been partnering with Base projects since earlier this year, tapping into the extensive community of NFT enthusiasts around artists like Ali Sabet and memecoins like Toshi. In the first week alone our Base-related marketing received 186K impressions, 6.7K engagements, and our live X space had 4.1K listeners.?
This is what happens when 2 strong communities come together ??
2. Clear brand identity and vision
Rarible.com is the creator’s marketplace. ? Culture and creativity have always been at the core of what we do, and as a result, community is baked into who we are. Being clear on our brand identity and vision, allows us to easily collaborate with creators within our community, and that stands to us.?
We stay true to our commitment to artists, and our community stays true to us.
3. Killer community instincts
We know our community inside out, so when a “Purple Cow” opportunity arises - we are on it.?
Last year, when more and more marketplaces were getting rid of royalties for creators, we doubled down and launched the “R is for Royalties campaign, reminding everyone that royalties will always be enforced on Rarible.?

This resonated across tons of communities, and the “R is for Royalties” NFT was minted almost 70,000 times.
Another great community-driven marketing initiative was our Pudgy Penguin World drop earlier this year. When a simple retweet of Durango’s Pudgy Penguin remix caused quite a stir on our feed, we leaned into it and collaborated with the artist to release a drop on Rarible.
The surrounding marketing campaign saw a 45% increase in our weekly newsletter engagement and over 40,000 views on a single X post.
How are you empowering your NFT community?
A custom-built RaribleX marketplace can be a dedicated space for your community to trade NFTs with confidence. Giving them a marketplace they can trust will strengthen their sense of belonging, and increase their confidence in your product and your vision.
At Rarible, we do our best every day to support not only our own NFT community, but also those of our partners and clients.
As we mentioned above, cross-community relationships are a key part of our marketing strategy, which means partnering with Rarible can give you access to a whole new ecosystem within web3.
In our eyes, building up communities across web3 makes for an open and fun space, and that’s what we’re all about.

Good artice, thanks. What about projects starting from scratch (with little community)? A bit of a chicken, egg problem, isn't it?
