Leveraging benchmarks to build a successful Category Management Operating Model
Future Purchasing
Building strategic procurement excellence through consultancy, transformation, coaching and training.
In our recent webinar, "From Benchmark to Traction," we explored how procurement can define an operating model for category management based on insights from our 2024 Category Management Report and personal experience from CPO Rachael Legg. The discussion nicely summarised the report's content and findings, but more importantly, it especially demonstrated how highly experienced and open procurement leaders can transform a procurement organisation.
We emphasized that an organisational structure is only one aspect of an operating model and briefly outlined the six integrated dimensions of the FP CatMan operating model, including stakeholder engagement, CatMan strategy, and value impact. By taking a structured approach to strategic procurement, Rachael and her team increased strategy coverage from 15% to 60% and quadrupled savings in two years.
This edition of 'Insights' summarises key resources explaining the 2024 Category Management Report and provides practical tips on building a business case for investing in CatMan improvement. Enjoy the read!

2 个月'Insights' are the real accelerator for category management. Watching people use an analysis tool and not generate any insights from it is my personal low point. Helping them capture the implications of that analysis and understand and capture its application in their own area of responsibility is the highpoint. The global category management report, and the webinar, is stuffed with insights into how to make category management work better, which will lead to more insights into categories and suppliers and negotiations, and drive massive value. This area is a massive motivator for me - helping people to understand how they can access more and deliver more.

2 个月I believe the understanding of an operating model is still mostly limited to organizational design. Was good to break out the different dimensions and discuss how they play together.
