Leveraging analytics to make smart factories smarter
Recent explosion in application of Internet of Things(IoT) within manufacturing promises to take smart factory automation to a whole new level, by intelligently connecting all phases of the product life cycle, from sourcing to delivery and right into the customer’s home. Data is at the very core of the concept of Internet of Things and hence any smart frontier that you plan to create will yield the desired ROI only if the data generated by the process is harnessed in an optimal way.
The evolution of smart factories is creating numerous possibilities for quality improvement, using the IoT to build bridges that help solve the age old operations problems of lack of visibility and real time collaboration among suppliers, employees, customers and more. In parallel, it is also creating a transparent and cohesive manufacturing environment where every employee feels invested in product quality.
This article on my blog focuses on some of the key areas where data from smart shop floors can be effectively leveraged to gain competitive advantage.

5 年Great article Kumar. Ut aptly captures the role that data analytics plays during product development and testing. It would also be lovely to extend the conversation to include the stages in which the induction motor is now one of many components of a larger machine and the data analysis perspective of the machine as part a manufacturing process.
