Hi there, my friend!
?
Today's newsletter starts a 3-part mini-series on?empowering yourself to empower others.
?
In this first newsletter, let's dive into Self-Awareness
and explore how recognizing your inherent strengths?
can set you apart at work, especially in the automotive & tech industries.
?
I'll start us off with a question:
What is your most valuable contribution at work
BEYOND your technical skills and expertise?
?
Often, we focus so much on our technical expertise?
that we forget the other valuable contributions we bring to the table.?
?
As professionals, other strengths are simply not our focus?
because most of us – maybe all of us – live in cultures?
in which certifications and skills and accomplishments define success.
?
So please take a moment to consider:?
What are you naturally good at??
What do you enjoy doing that comes easily to you?
What do others pay you compliments for?
?
These are your natural strengths,?
and leveraging them can help you build a resilient foundation of confidence.
?
Because these are the things you know you are good at.
So you don't rely on outside feedback or praise for these.
?
Got your list of strengths??
Now here's what comes next:
?
1) Consider how these strengths have served you
Think about as many situations as possible where they served you –?
in your private and professional life,?
recently or all the way back when you were young.
?
Why??
Because humans are not change embracers,?
and the more you can rely on known strengths in new situations,
the more easily you will be able to adapt and settle in.
?
2) Embrace the “side effects” of your strengths
Now, every coin has two sides, and as far as your natural strengths go,?
this means there are certain other things you are rather bad at
because you are so good at their opposite.
?
And that's okay!
You just want to be aware of it and plan accordingly –
either by getting “good enough” at these things or delegating them.
?
3) Take advantage of the different strengths of others
Now, if you allow yourself to focus on your natural strengths
and do as little as possible of the flipside thingy –
I encourage you to have a conversation about this in your team.
?
You will be surprised which natural strengths people will share
if you have created a safe space for people to speak up.
Taking advantage of these is really a win-win-win
because like yourself, other people love doing what they are naturally good at.
?
?
I strongly believe that empowering yourself?
is the first step to empowering others.?
Because it makes you a driving force.
?
When we take the driver's seat in our own lives,?
we set a powerful example and create a ripple effect?
of authentic, resilient confidence.
?
?
Next time, we will look into Self-Advocacy
and how it can help you accelerate on the Road to Success.
?
I'd love to hear what your strengths and their side effects are!
Comment or send me a message, would you?
?
And if I need some support to work through this, let's chat!
?
Love, Micha
