The Levellers increase their reach by 5x with their new FanCircles Powered App

The Levellers are a band whose career has spanned 30-odd years. During which time, they have never compromised their core values as they navigated an ever changing musical and cultural landscape.

We’ve increased the band’s subscription revenue by more than double the previous annual total. - Leveller's Jon

We could go on about their musical influences but words don’t really do their work justice. Instead I’d recommend putting their songs on - LOUD!

Unsurprisingly, they have picked up a loyal army of fans over the years. Including me.

In fact, when I started to form the idea of Fancircles in my mind, I went back to the days of hitchhiking to their gigs, drinking and dancing in venues full of fellow Levs fans. We were connected in that moment. It was pure fandom. Great days!

Needless to say, they were on my list of dream clients when I started to build our fan platforms.

In December 2020, amid all the craziness of the COVID/Brexit/Trump/what else ya got? world, my dream became reality - we launched the Official Levellers fan platform!

To say it’s been a success would be an understatement. The amazing community of fans came in their droves (and they’re still coming!). Some moved over from their previous fanclub “On the Fiddle” and some came from socials. Wherever they came from, they are now home.

We’ve had live Q&As, exclusive demos, live albums and interviews in the audio archive, handmade merch and artwork sessions, competitions, giveaways and so much love on the fan wall, with fans around the world connecting more closely than ever before. The fans clearly feel at home and posting more frequently and in more detail than they would on socials.

All of the band members have got stuck in and are really enjoying this new community.

The band’s maestro fiddle player, Jon Sevink, had this to say:

“The app is the most creative and immediate way we have of communicating with fans. We think of it as an interactive online magazine where we can express our creativity using music, artwork and videos. Combine that with live video, a fans-only ‘wall’ and ticket and merchandise links and there really is something for everybody. It has become a vital communication tool for us while there are no live concerts and once we’re back out on the road again it will be invaluable for passing on information and a place where fans of the band can come together.” - Leveller Jon

Jon sums it up perfectly when he says the band now have a place to express all facets of their creativity. For fans it’s great to have it all in one place and to know that they will see 100% of the content posted. Not only do we offer 100% reach every time, we also have notification settings for mobile and web apps, so fans will never miss anything to do with The Levellers ever again.

There are understandably a lot of conversations in the industry at the moment, centered around alternative artist revenue streams. Some think live streaming is the answer. Some think Tik Tok and some….well, let’s just say a certain subscription based porn platform (the less said about them, the better). But what happens when this nasty virus has gone and every band has live streamed their 500th gig to ever decreasing audience numbers? It’s time the industry stopped thinking just about fighting the fire and started thinking about rebuilding the house. Except, building it with stronger foundations.

The Levellers, as Jon points out, now have a platform that has not only provided them with a new revenue stream, but has also given the community somewhere to congregate and share their passion, for the foreseeable future.

Even at this early stage, we are happy to have welcomed 5x the amount of fans than were present on the previous fan club. We’ve increased the band’s subscription revenue by more than double the previous annual total, in just a few months!

We are more than aware of the need for bands to supplement their lost income and we’ve proven our fan.direct platform to be a great solution that will continue to grow fanbases and provide an alternative revenue stream to artists even when they're back to playing live.

Fancircles and The Levellers really is a meeting of kindred spirits. We are proud to provide them and their fans this very special place to hang out.
