Level 10 Meetings: Your Antidote to Time-Wasting Team Huddles

Level 10 Meetings: Your Antidote to Time-Wasting Team Huddles

Have you ever sat in a meeting thinking, “This could’ve been an email,” while your to-do list grows by the minute? A friend once told me he was handed a button that said, “I survived another meeting that should have been an email.” Ouch. If your team is dozing off, scrolling their phones, or holding extra “hallway chats” afterward, something’s broken.

The solution? Level 10 Meetings—part of the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System). It’s a structured approach that keeps your team sharp, focused, and actually accomplishing things. Instead of the same dull agenda, you focus on real issues, accountability, and solving problems that move the organization forward.

Here’s the gist:

  • Segue (5 min): Kick off with a quick catch-up. Shift from working in the business to working on it.
  • Scorecard & Rocks (5 min each): Check on KPIs and quarterly goals. Off-track items go on the Issues list.
  • Customer/Employee Headlines (5 min): Share key wins or problems that cropped up.
  • To-Dos (5 min): Quickly see which tasks got done, which didn’t, and decide if any belong on the Issues list.
  • Identify, Discuss, Solve (60 min): Tackle the biggest issues first. Solve them right there, and assign clear action items.
  • Conclude (5 min): Recap, clarify next steps, and confirm who’s doing what.

The real magic is the built-in accountability. Everyone on the leadership team knows what they owe and by when. Over time, these meetings stop being a chore and become the weekly “heartbeat” that keeps your organization in sync and on track.

If you’re tired of lifeless meetings and want a proven structure that drives results, let’s talk. I’m always happy to discuss how Level 10 Meetings or EOS can transform your company.

Episode 25 – How To Motivate Teams And Achieve Success With Brian Kornfeld

In my latest Eagle’s Insight podcast episode, I interview Brian Kornfeld, a serial entrepreneur, founder, and connector, to discuss the challenges of leading in different environments. Brian shares his experiences and insights on effective leadership, emphasizing the importance of understanding people’s motivations, empowering team members, and taking calculated risks.

Key Takeaways:

  • Effective leadership requires understanding what motivates each individual, whether it’s recognition, purpose, financial gain, or the opportunity to contribute to a greater cause.
  • Leaders should create an environment where people feel empowered, appreciated, and valued.
  • Successful leaders are continuous learners who adapt faster than their competition.
  • Leaders need to assess and take calculated risks, not be completely risk-averse.
  • Startups should focus on solving a problem and meeting customer needs rather than just building something cool. Identifying the right customer base is key.

Quotes from Brian Kornfeld in this episode:

“What’s in it for the person that you’re leading and making sure people feel empowered and loved and appreciated? What are they looking for?”

“Sometimes it’s the piano. Sometimes it’s the saxophone. Sometimes it’s the drums and everybody else will follow along to go with them and bounce the ball around.”

“The biggest thing that holds startups back is ego… the scoreboard that’s going to matter at the end of the day…is what’s in the bank account and your name in the newspaper does not add a dollar to the bank account.”
