Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Student of the Year Campaign

Dear colleagues, friends and connections,

Did you know that -

·              More than a million Americans are fighting a daily battle with blood cancers and every 3 minutes another person joins the fight?

·              Leukemia is the most common cancer in children and teens younger than 20, accounting for almost one out of three cancers?

·              Blood cancers are the third leading cancer killer of Americans?

Because of this, I am excited to announce that my daughter, Bridget Sevec, is participating in the 2021 Student of the Year (SOY) campaign. Over the next 7 weeks, she will be working to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and their mission to cure blood cancers!

It is an honor for her to be part of such an outstanding group of fellow students, but an even greater honor to be able to work for the patients, survivors and their families. We have known a few people who have been diagnosed with a blood cancer, but her main inspiration to join this campaign is Mackenzie McCarter, a family friend who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when she was 4 years old and relapsed at 8. Mackenzie is a thriving 17-year-old now, but continues to deal with the long-term effects of the treatments that kept her alive.

Her team, Bridge To A Cure, set a goal to raise $50,000 between now and March 6th and we need your help!

There are many ways you can support us in our efforts to cure blood cancer:

 1.        Donate (tax-deductible) securely via credit card through her personal fundraising page https://events.lls.org/md/MDSoY21/bsevec (scan QR code below)

2.        Share her message and fundraising link with your contacts via email or social media.

3.        Donate a silent auction item that can be used for the Grand Finale Gala auction.

4.        Help her secure a corporate sponsorship (Sponsorships start at $500 and sponsors receive numerous benefits! If interested, I can send more details).

Thank you for your generosity and support. Your donation will truly make a difference and with your help, we are one step closer to a cure for blood cancers! For more information about LLS and the Student of the Year Campaign, please visit www.studentsoftheyear.org.

 Sincerely,

Doug Sevec - 2021 Student of the Year Candidate Parent

P.S.— The deadline to mail is March 1, 2021.
