This ‘Lettuce Lady’ Paid Me $300,000 a Year… She Wants You Next

She’ll change your life, and I’ll make this quick.

Here’s the deal.

She’s been waiting for you to take that first step. But you’re too scared, too busy stressing about all the changes in business, to see what’s right in front of you.

I get it. I used to be the same way.

Years ago, I was out there pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, hustling hard. I was laser-focused on getting in front of big-name restaurant owners, the ones I thought would be the key to my success. But what I found instead was someone else entirely—someone who would change everything.

She was no high-roller restaurant owner. She was a vendor, just a lady who supplied lettuce to local restaurants. I was waiting around for the restaurant owner one day, and there she was. So, I introduced myself, almost as an afterthought, and she responded, “Great to meet you, Kent. I’m the Lettuce Lady.”

And that one introduction? It turned into $300,000 a year for the next five years.

That one encounter taught me something valuable. It’s what I call The Lettuce Lady Principle, built on three pillars: Intention, Consciousness, and Action. These principles aren’t just for business—they’re for life. Implementing these daily will unlock the success you’ve been chasing and give you a deeper sense of joy and purpose. Here’s how each pillar works, why it can change everything for you, and how it has transformed my life on every level.

1. Intention: Set Powerful Intentions That Attract Success and Meaning

Intention is where it all begins. Without it, you’re just spinning your wheels, reacting to whatever comes your way. But with intention, you’re building a magnet for success—a vision that pulls the right opportunities and people into your path.

The day I met the Lettuce Lady, I had one intention: to connect, to serve, and to find a way to add value to everyone I met. That clarity allowed me to see the potential in a connection I would’ve otherwise overlooked. This wasn’t just business—it changed my entire approach to how I live my life. When I set my intentions, not only do I feel more focused, but I feel a deeper sense of purpose and calm.

Teaching Value: Find Your Big Why and Make It Your Compass

Your “Big Why” is the driving force behind everything you do, the beacon that guides your actions. When you’re clear on this, people sense it, and they’re drawn to you. They want to work with someone who has purpose, someone who’s not just in it for the dollars but for something bigger. This is what builds trust and credibility and what makes you magnetic.

Here’s a simple exercise to define your Big Why:

  • Morning Journal Practice: Each morning, write down your intention for the day. Ask yourself, What is my purpose? Who will I serve? How do I want to show up?
  • Reflect and Align: Read over your intention before you start your day. Let it guide your decisions, your conversations, and the way you respond to challenges.

When you have a powerful intention guiding your actions, you’re not just doing business—you’re creating a life of impact. People will see your clarity, feel your conviction, and know that you’re someone they can trust. That’s how you attract clients who want to work with you and who believe in your vision.

In my new course, we’ll dive into even more advanced exercises for uncovering your Big Why, aligning your life and business, and using it as a compass for true success. Stay tuned!

2. Consciousness: Be Fully Present to Recognize the Opportunities Others Miss

Next up is consciousness. Consciousness is all about being fully present, being aware of the people, situations, and opportunities around you. When I met the Lettuce Lady, I was conscious enough to notice her—to tune in, strike up a conversation, and listen to her story. That presence unlocked a series of connections that would’ve been invisible if I’d just been focused on “the big fish” I thought I needed.

This principle has impacted me far beyond business. Consciousness has helped me become more aware of the people and experiences that add real value to my life. It’s deepened my relationships and brought me closer to the people who matter most. Now, I don’t just go through the motions—I’m tuned in to the moment, to the people around me, and to the opportunities right in front of me.

Teaching Value: The Listening Pause to Build Genuine Connections

The Listening Pause is a powerful tool for anyone who wants to build deeper, more meaningful relationships. Most people listen just long enough to respond, to jump in with their own thoughts. But when you’re conscious, when you truly pause and let others speak, you start to uncover hidden details, subtle cues, and deeper connections. This level of consciousness builds trust and creates loyalty.

Here’s how to put it into practice:

  1. In your next conversation, take a three-second pause after the other person finishes speaking.
  2. During that pause, ask yourself, How can I serve this person right now? What are they really asking for?
  3. Then, respond with that intention in mind.

This may sound simple, but the impact is massive. You’ll start to see opportunities to help, to connect, and to make a difference that you might otherwise miss. When people experience your presence, they’ll want to be around you. They’ll sense that you’re someone who cares and who listens. That’s how you build a network of raving fans, people who not only want to work with you but also advocate for you.

And guess what? Your Lettuce Lady might already be right in front of you. She could be a colleague, a client, or even someone you’ve crossed paths with before. Stay present, and you’ll be amazed at the connections waiting for you.

3. Action: Take Bold, Imperfect Action to Create Growth and Momentum

Finally, let’s talk about action. Even with the best intentions and the clearest awareness, nothing happens without action. The Lettuce Lady might have been right there in front of me, but if I hadn’t introduced myself, that opportunity would’ve vanished. Here’s the truth: most game-changing moments are right outside your comfort zone. You have to move, even when it’s not perfect, even when you’re not fully ready.

Implementing this pillar has been a game-changer for me. I used to overthink every move, stressing about every detail. But now, I live by a different mantra—done is better than perfect. Action has not only driven my business forward but has also reduced my stress, given me confidence, and opened up countless doors I didn’t even know existed.

Teaching Value: The 5-Second Rule for Instant Courage

Mel Robbins’ 5-Second Rule is a game-changer. It’s designed to get you moving, to help you bypass overthinking and hesitation. Whenever you feel that nudge to act, count “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” and just go for it. This is how you start building momentum, how you push past fear, and how you create opportunities instead of waiting for them.

Here’s how to make it work for you:

  • Anytime you feel that impulse to reach out, to introduce yourself, to make a move—count down from five and act. Don’t give your brain a chance to talk you out of it.
  • Use this rule to turn hesitation into action. Make it a habit, and you’ll start to see opportunities everywhere you go.

This habit will change your life. The more you use the 5-Second Rule, the more natural it becomes to act on your intentions. You’ll build a reputation as someone who’s not afraid to make things happen. That energy is contagious. Clients will see you as a leader, someone who’s not just talking about change but creating it. They’ll want to work with you because they’ll see you as the real deal.

In my new course, I’ll go deeper into the art of taking bold action, turning ideas into reality, and making the kind of moves that build momentum and lead to unstoppable growth. You don’t want to miss it.

Putting It All Together: Live with Intention, Consciousness, and Bold Action

Here’s the plan. Start your day with a clear intention. Know your Big Why, and let it guide you. Practice consciousness by being fully present and using the Listening Pause to build deep connections. And above all, take bold, imperfect action with the 5-Second Rule. These pillars aren’t just for business; they’re for life. They’ll unlock opportunities you never saw coming and bring you joy, fulfillment, and true success.

When you live by these principles, you’re building more than financial success. You’re creating a legacy—of impact, connection, and meaningful progress. You’re crafting a life filled with purpose, growth, and authentic relationships.

So, go out there, find your Lettuce Lady, and take that first step. She’s waiting for you, and she’s going to change your life. Just like she did for me.

And stay tuned, because in my brand new course, I’ll dive even deeper into these pillars, revealing the tools you need to build a life and business that thrive on every level.

Until next time, keep moving forward with purpose, presence, and bold action. The world needs what you have to offer, and the results will amaze you.
