When did YOU learn the art of letting go?
Last week, an incident forced me to do some self-introspection. My younger daughter, who is in 3rd grade, was supposed to address the assembly at her school. It was Tuesday morning, and her assembly date was scheduled for Thursday, so we were in preparation mode. But here's the twist: we received a call that morning informing us the assembly was actually scheduled for Tuesday itself. Panic ensued, but since my patience has improved through meditation, I was able to control the situation and reassure her that she had practiced the night before and could handle it. She went to school.
When she returned home, I asked her while giving her food what happened in the assembly. Very candidly, she said, "I forgot." My expression was one of shock, eyes wide open and body language full of disbelief. I asked her what happened next. She said, "My principal scolded my class teacher, my class teacher scolded me, and then I scolded my friend." Her spontaneous answer made me burst into laughter, and I was rolling on the floor laughing.

I asked her if she felt bad, and she said, "Yes, a little bit, but what can be done? What’s done is done." When she uttered these words, it struck a chord in me. I realized that children are so sorted in their feelings and that we should learn from them. They are the best teachers and can teach us important lessons about emotions. This conversation touched me deeply, and I was happy that she knew how to let go of things, which many of us struggle with, leading to various issues in our lives.
It’s always important to leave the baggage of the past behind and move forward to see what the future holds for us. For me, it was a revisited lesson in letting go and finding solutions during challenging times.
