Letting Agents: Is Your Electrician An Airsucker?

Dear letting agent, Jason here, CEO of JG Electrical Force and I’d love to talk to you about electricians, if you have a moment.?

Despite lots of training, not all electricians are not created equally. It’s nothing to do with the training, let me make that clear right now. It’s everything to do with the personality and attitude of your electrician.?

And the worst kind of electrician you will ever come across is the airsucker…?

You know the scenario…?

You let the electrician into the home to do the EICR check. You and your client have kept the house in tip-top condition and you’re thinking you’ll get a certificate and the electrician leaves.??

But that’s not what happens.?

You’re handed a list totalling 5k for a slew of electrical fixes! What’s going on? This can’t be right! Can it??

So you ask the electrician to break down all the fixes.?

And they suck in the air, past their teeth and make a low whistling sound. Then they reel off a load of words, half of which don’t seem to make sense in any language and then they tell you it really should be 10k, but you’re getting it for 5k…?

You’re in a quandary. You’re not an electrician, but you don’t think what they're saying is right. But you don’t know how to get the right information from the electrician and you don’t want to bill your client incorrectly for something they potentially don’t need right now.

You ask the airsucker electrician to help you prove this to your client and they get irate. Don’t you trust them? They're a qualified electrician! How dare you challenge their expertise this way.?

Again, it’s not because they're bad electricians. They just have zero people skills. They’re not understanding your point of view, and that you answer to your landlords who trust you. Without even realising it, it’s become you vs. the electrician.?

There has to be a better way to get your EICR tests…
