Letters for Loneliness
"What should (young) people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously.
But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured."
—Kurt Vonnegut
I created Dead Letter Club and The Library of Letters for this very reason.
And I believe it’s working.
I hope it is.
This Saturday I’m asking you to join me to write letters. Write because you aren’t lonely, write because you are.
Write to someone you’ll never meet, write to someone you know needs it.
Write to Loneliness itself.
This Saturday 31st August I’ll be at The Moat on Little Lonsdale St at 10am to guide this gathering of community for Melbourne Writers Festival
I’ll then be at The Toff In Town on Sunday at 1pm with author David Francis and artist/writer Tai Snaith talking about creative blocks at the gorgeous event Confetti Freedom
Super special is Dead Letter Club - Letters Mingle Souls on 8 October.
I’m hoping you’re out there. I’m not young anymore but I’m daring to encourage community with the only thing I know how - creativity.
