A letter to your Younger Self

A letter to your Younger Self

I was invited to speak at the Winchester School of Art, to the students studying Marketing (as part of their careers week), and one of the questions I was asked was:

"What advice would you give to your younger self?"

Ever thought about the wisdom you'd impart to the little you?

Here's my advice to Little Me - that I shared with the students...

1. Never stop learning...

You can't truly be GREAT at what you do unless you continue to learn - so embrace every learning opportunity. Life throws an incredible number of lessons our way – You might find them in a conversation, a book, or even from a training course and none are too small to shape us.

2. Risk-Taking Leads to Magic

Success is a winding path, not a straight line - you might go backwards, forwards, sideways - but whatever path you take, know that risks are necessary in your success. Outside the comfort zone... it's there that the magic happens.

3. Get The Right People on Your Side (ditch those that are not!)

Your network will be an invaluable source of support, advice, and opportunities throughout your life. Whether it's building lasting connections personally, seeking mentorship from a business perspective for yourself, or lending a helping hand to someone else - the strength of our network is immeasurable. Never believe you're better on your own - the collective power of those you bring into your life will make it richer and more successful. Build relationships, seek mentorship, and always be willing to offer help to others. But be prepared to realise that some people are NOT right for you. Don't carry them.

4. Finding Opportunity in Disguise

Life's toughest moments often hide the greatest opportunities. You are going to find yourself in situations that are dressed up as failure - but they won't be. It'll be the opening of a new door to step through. Always look at what appears to be a negative, and view it through a different lens.

5. You Attract What You Project

Your thoughts have power and can shape your reality - be careful what you think about. Positive energy is a magnet for more of the same (it's one of the laws of the universe), so it's critical to be intentional and purposeful in your thinking. Focus on what you want to achieve, and keep stepping towards it, with high vibes!

6. The Importance of Action

Ultimately, action trumps perfection. "Just f*cking do it!" Why? Because procrastination never got anyone closer to their dreams.

What advice would YOU give to LITTLE YOU?

Victoria :)

P.S. Remember, where there's reflection, there's opportunity for growth – both personal and professional. Keep reaching for the stars!
