LETTER TO YOUNGER SELF

Dear Youngerself,

I don’t know what to write to you because the wisdom of the journey is as much a part of who you would become. Life is not a straight path. It has interesting turns and bends. You will face emotional challenges in refusing to acknowledge the power of your own beauty. You will realize that casual decisions on not focusing on Ivy League institutions may slow you down in terms of marketability of your labour but do not define who you will become. You will discover #insurance and find it rewarding because it speaks to life's #risks. You will find all knowledge complementary of each other. You are a child of the Great Spirit and will find light waves within the dark tunnels through which you must pass. You will not see male nor female, black or white, but the person; and, in that, you will learn about other peoples’ prejudices and biases but will not give yourself to these because sex and colour are genetic adjustments of the same congealed blood. You will meet “warriors” of #life who will fight your “battles” and there are a few that would depress you. Never hold your breath and allow the viral dust of life to suffocate you. You will be seen as difficult, hard, harsh and blunt of your truths and facts. Do not be weary by these. People often judge us from the point of themselves and their experiences. You were not created for the sprint but for the long distance run and the marathons. Pace yourself, preserve your energy, enjoy the pounding of your feet on the pavements of life in gentle run. You will be alone for long stretches but will find support bases wherever you require anchoring. They may not be nice but never see them as bad or unkind but as worthy adversaries that have come to “help” you. “Help” is not always positive. Negative is as much part of the creative energy of Life. As you age, you will imagine that you were wrought within Orion’s belt and you will begin to understand grace and humility. The Great Spirit knows your journey; so let faith, love and sacrifice keep you bound to goodness and forgiveness.

Yours,

Olderself
