A Letter to the Survivors + the Celebrated

A Letter to the Survivors + the Celebrated

October has arrived, and many of you might recognize it as Fall, Halloween, Cybersecurity Awareness Month. For those of you who know or have been impacted, it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Montha time when we pause to reflect, advocate, and show solidarity. But for me, this month is more than just a sea of pink ribbons and walks; it’s personal. Cancer, in all its forms, has touched the lives of those I love, and it has left an indelible mark on my own journey. This letter is for the survivors who continue to fight and for those we celebrate who inspire us with their courage.

Cancer Changes You.

Whether you are in the fight or sitting beside a loved one as they go through chemo, it shakes your world. There’s a certain vulnerability that comes with it, an undeniable rawness that forces you to confront the unknown. It’s not just about battling the disease itself; it’s about living with the constant uncertainty and the emotional toll that comes with it. Yet, in the face of that vulnerability, I’ve witnessed the most incredible strength, the kind that doesn’t always make headlines but changes lives all the same.

I’ve seen firsthand what happens when awareness turns into action. We need more than just acknowledgment; we need commitment—the vulnerability to ask for help, to admit that you can’t do it all alone. You never know when cancer will become a part of your vocabulary or how many loved ones it will affect. For me, it was around 10 years old watching a friend's father go through it, and over the last three decades, I've seen it take to any good people to count.

So, this October, as we have done at MDCo since I founded the company in 2018, we’re stepping up—matching every dollar raised as we walk to support breast cancer research until there is a cure. This isn’t just another walk. It’s a walk for the people who’ve fought, for the families who’ve been affected, and for the future we’re all hoping for—a future where breast cancer no longer has the power to claim the lives of those we love.

We walk because every step, every dollar, brings us closer to that future. We walk for our mothers, our daughters, our sisters, our friends, and ourselves. And we walk because we know that we can’t do this alone. It takes a village, a community, to bring about real change.

This isn’t just about survivors, though we honor their strength. It’s also about those who stand beside them, those who offer support, who listen, who take action. This month, we celebrate that spirit—the resilience, the vulnerability, the connection that binds us all together in this fight.

So, whether you walk with us in person or in spirit, know that your contribution—no matter how small—matters. Together, we’re making strides, one step at a time, toward a future where breast cancer no longer holds the power it does today. MDCo is proud to match every dollar because we believe in the power of action and, more importantly, the power of hope.

Let’s walk for the survivors, for the celebrated, and for the day when cancer is no longer a battle we have to fight. Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing in a cure. And thank you for being part of this journey.
