Letter to President Macron

Letter to President Macron

Dear Mr. President,

For a decade and a half now, I have engaged myself in the monastic role of guide to the leaders of our world, and although I effort to conduct myself with the appropriate balance of humility and respect in that endeavor, it may be viewed in some quarters with some measure of disdain and foreboding. I seek your forgiveness in advance for any consternation I may inadvertently cause. The moment is grave for all of us.

When you and PM Sunak plunged your great peoples in the unnecessary flux of snap elections for what I believe was parallax error of edification, I was a bit surprised. However, and with better read and more proficient advisers, I thought for sure you have the most exquisite guidance to ensure your decisions did not wayfare into the other fork, the one more traveled. The UK and Northern Ireland came out better, stronger, and more resolute, albeit with some minor impediments in the process. I worry about a more deleterious turn of events for us all, with your series of decisions after your snap election order. I shall not bore you with any more detail about my worry because it may provoke another deleterious and reactionary decision severally, but suffice it to say that in this our Global Decade of Renewal, any of us could ostensibly make the wrong decision that could lead to greater disquiet around the world. And Mr. Putin may not be the author of such general disquiet even as he appears to be the most eligible author for such at this time.

I encourage you to look beyond your personal legacy and to reconsider your decision to appoint Mr. Barnier Prime Minister. He will understand any discomfort or disappointment. I also encourage you to go beyond that reconsideration and promise to resign your role as President of France once you have ensured proper succession. There may be other, and better options available to you, but these are what I was able to conjure as most benign. I have not been at ease since your snap elections were duly concluded. I struggled to enjoy your exquisitely organized Olympiad because your snap election decisions have been gnawing at me since.

Thank you kind Excellency, in advance of your esteem considerations.
