Letter to my next Employer!

Dear Employer,

My name is Aliaa Hussein Abbas. I am a daughter, a mother, a friend and somebody’s someone. I will be 40 in a year. Some say it’s my golden time, but I know to you I am old. I understand you are more about the budget, the KPIs, the ROI, the appraisals, the attendance …etc. But that is not all there is to it. The almost 40 me, after years of a well thought of working life realised that despite how the numbers always add up; they are not the complete answer. You may find me demanding than my younger peers, but I sure have much to bring to the table. I don’t come cheap and I am like everybody, ‘one of a kind’. A mindful heart and a heartful mind; and I put them whole into each of my everyday actions. I live to make a difference and better myself, my surrounding, those I care for and inevitably life. I do what I shall be remembered by. I have had my ups and down, highs and lows, breakdowns and breakthroughs, top of the world moments and rock-bottom days, great choices and seriously bad one. I have forever been brave and I bare the consequence. I walked the tunnel towards the light, and I have shed my coating a few times along the years. Through depression, anxiety and panic, it is now clear to me why arguments are in nobody’s favour. I see what counts and choose my fights carefully. I have mastered my ego and no more seek titles or status. I am not looking for a job. I am calling for my next boarding place in the journey. A place I fill well and grow within. A place that is made of the total sum of the parts of the people in it. A place to practice my best qualities today and become the best I can evolve into tomorrow. A place where I am heard and considered. A place where I count. A place that is not only right but also good. I have a high working ethic that some find rigid. I am too forward it hurts. A walking mirror projecting shadows and exemplifying the truth. I am humble but I don’t surrender. I master the push and pull tactics and I know how to connect with humans. I smoothly let go as much as I hold on too strong for too long. Being independent my whole life taught me to always have plan B, C and X. I am kind and I can be really weird. I use words like conversation, trust, reciprocity, agility, consistency, acceptance, mindfulness, consciousness, compassion, inclusion, equity, present, universe, process, timing and sequence. A pure introvert who does extrovert for a living! I am proud of my achievements and I don’t stop working on myself. Stagnation dulls me as I am constantly aspiring for growth. I hustle; I have come a long way and it’s a long way coming.
