A letter from Potential

A year ago today I published my book Searching in Silence .

I consciously made an effort to slow down today and acknowledge how proud I am of myself for this milestone.

Sometimes we are so quick to focus on what's next that we forget to slow down and bathe in the things we've already achieved. To really be proud of how far we've come. To acknowledge how much of our potential we've already discovered.

And this is what this little article is really about, potential.

As I was journalling reflecting on my milestone today I had a thought occur to me:

I wonder what Potential would say to me if it wrote me a letter?

So, I took a deep breath and just let the pen glide across the page as I poured out the words. And here's the letter that came through...

Dear Vipul,

I hope this letter finds you in good health.

I'm writing to say I'm proud of you. You've always attempted to reach me in all the ways that you could. Even on the days and months you thought you lost me and were letting me down, you found a small piece of me. I was right there proud of how much you were trying.

You never stopped searching for more of me. Most people seem to give up on the search after a while. Life seems to eat away at them. A part of me usually gets buried and forgotten about. And that's thanks to my enemy, fear. He always seems to get the better of people. He has a sneaky way to persuade that one. He can be all encompassing and stretch your imagination. He's such a great actor. But he never did fool you. You always saw through his performances and that's what led you to me.

You never stopped finding pieces of me. And the truth is there are unlimited pieces of me to discover. The more you discover of me, the more there is to discover. I'm impressed by how much you've discovered already.
