Letter from the desk of the Founders | KARM Prabha 2023-24

Dear Friends of KARM,

Namaste!

It is with immense joy and gratitude that we present to you the KARM Prabha - Impact Report 2024.

This past year has been nothing short of transformative. We’ve had the privilege of witnessing our first batch of Fellows soar—pursuing higher education, securing jobs, and earning prestigious fellowships. With a 100% placement rate, we can confidently say that the magic of KARM is truly alive. Watching their personal and professional growth has been deeply fulfilling. As they now embark on exciting new journeys, we remain closely connected with them, turning to them as guides, partners, and leaders in building our ever-growing alumni movement.

Our KARM family has expanded in the most beautiful way. We are thrilled to welcome 58 new Fellows into our fourth batch—40 in our Graduate Fellowship and 18 in our Law Fellowship. Each one of them carries the potential to inspire, transform, and lead in ways that will ripple through their families and communities.

As we grow, we recognize that today’s world demands more from our Fellows. To support their success, we’ve introduced internships for our first-year DU students—our Navya Fellows—to equip them with the practical skills and experience they need to thrive in their academic and professional lives. This new initiative is just one example of how we are evolving to meet the needs of our bright and ambitious Fellows.

Perhaps the most heartwarming thing for us is to see the spirit of “paying it forward” blossom among our Fellows. This year, we launched KARM Awaaz, a program that we co-created with our Fellows to try and extend the reach of our KARM Fellowship program. KARM Awaaz is a powerful initiative that allows us to extend our reach to even more young women, empowering them with the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need for employability and success, all done through our Fellows, by being in touch with girls with a background like them across Delhi University. It’s incredible to witness our Fellows becoming role models and catalysts of change, impacting others as they once were impacted.

What makes our work truly special is seeing the tangible impact our Fellows are making within their families and communities. Whether it’s fostering a new sense of well-being by moving from financial instability to a life where nutritious food, leisure, and security are no longer compromised, or helping a visually impaired sister acquire skills at the Blind Relief Association to gain financial independence, these transformations are profound.One Fellow, for instance, has prioritized investing in her family’s health and well-being, ensuring that her younger siblings do not face the same financial barriers to education that her father once did. The impact of this commitment extends beyond her immediate family, touching lives throughout her community.

Our greatest lesson this year has been the power of listening. By staying attuned to the needs, dreams, and aspirations of our Fellows, we’ve been able to redesign programs and interventions that truly empower them to rise. Their stories, their voices, and their resilience continue to guide us as we chart the course forward for KARM.

We owe much of our success to the dedication and commitment of our KARM Mentors. Their unwavering belief in our mission, their guidance, and their deep investment in the lives of our Fellows have been instrumental in turning dreams into reality. We are incredibly grateful for their support, which allows us to dream bigger and push boundaries together.

Our team has been the backbone of KARM, working tirelessly to create and implement innovative programs. Their passion and commitment to empowering our Fellows are evident in every initiative we launch. Together, we cultivate an environment of growth and support, ensuring that each Fellow feels valued and inspired.

To all of you, our supporters, thank you for your belief in KARM and for walking alongside us on this journey of empowerment. Together, we are creating change—one life, one family, one community at a time. The road ahead is full of promise, and with you by our side, we are ready to embrace all the possibilities.
