Letter from the CEO: June 2023

Good afternoon, Skillpoint Alliance partners:

I am happy to share the latest updates on our efforts to prepare students for successful careers in the manufacturing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC trades.?

Skillpoint Expands Administrative Team

We recently welcomed four new staff members to the Skillpoint team. Dulce Gruwell will serve as an admissions coordinator for our South Austin location and will focus on recruiting students from the Hays County region.

Shawn Kessler will serve as our student success coordinator and will focus on assisting students residing in South Austin and the Hays County region.

Silvia Adams will serve as an admissions coordinator for the Permian Basin and will assist in recruiting students from rural areas throughout West Texas and parts of New Mexico.

Patrick DeBouse will serve as our HVAC instructor for the Permian Basin. Patrick helped us successfully launch our first HVAC class at Midland College.

Skillpoint in the Permian Basin

Skillpoint expanded to the Permian Basin in 2022, and our team celebrated the graduation of our third pre-apprentice electrical cohort at Odessa College. Employer mentors from Goodwill West Texas, Ratliff Electric and Superior Optimization visited several classes and also attended the graduation ceremony. We are proud to announce that 10 students successfully completed the class and are ready to begin their careers in the electrical industry.

Skillpoint Expands Reach

Blair Flannigan, the site director for the Permian Basin, has been working diligently to expand our programs and secure new training locations, including campuses in Pecos, Texas and Carlsbad, New Mexico. We have seen a tremendous amount of interest throughout the region and look forward to beginning classes soon.?

Skillpoint Partners With Community Colleges

Skillpoint Alliance is proud to partner with Midland College and Odessa College to provide training and education in the skilled trades. These partnerships create pathways for individuals to enter the workforce and embark upon a rewarding career in the skilled-trade industry while also providing a pipeline of talent for the area's employers.?

We truly appreciate how welcoming both colleges have been, and we are excited to continue our collaboration to help individuals achieve their career goals and support the local economy.

Evening Classes Planned for Pecos, Texas

As part of our expansion goals in the Permian Basin, Skillpoint is pleased to announce that we will initiate our first cohort of evening classes, which will take place at Odessa College’s satellite campus in Pecos, Texas. This first class is scheduled to begin on July 11, 2023 and will run through October 26, 2023. Classes will meet Tuesday through Thursday from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.?
