Letter from AIME Leadership 2/27/23
Hello Broker Community,
Last week we held our first 3 AIME On Tour events of 2023 in Irvine, CA, Gilbert, AZ and Columbia, MD where hundreds of AIME Members and several of our AIME Partners came together for these local meet-ups, where we spent time together networking and discussing the issues we’re seeing within the regional Broker communities.
Attending local AIME events provides a unique relationship-building opportunity in a smaller, more intimate environment, but most importantly, it fosters the local community that AIME has been building since our inception.
Thanks to our community, we raised over $5,000 at last week’s AIME On Tour events for the Broker Action Coalition (BAC), our non-profit arm that supports AIME’s advocacy efforts. We’d also like to thank Brian and Jeanette Shields for donating a wine gift basket valued at $500 for us to raffle off at the Gilbert event. Congratulations are also in store for Robert Gole for winning the gift basket! Additionally, we’d like to thank Chris Vinson, CEO of Windsor, who donated a total of $2,000 at both the Irvine and Gilbert event. There are six additional AIME On Tour events scheduled – we hope to see you in Folsom, Salt Lake City, Hoboken, Dallas, or Cincinnati!
AIME has also been hard at work tackling some significant issues at the state and federal
levels, with huge strides made on our BAC advocacy initiatives. Here are some of the highlights:
● We raised over $360,000 for the BACPAC and created a higher level of awareness that the Broker Community is thriving and our collective voice needs to be heard.
● We launched Project Tango Echo. This initiative allows Disabled Veterans to obtain their property tax exemption during the loan process rather than having to come up with property tax reserves at closing – and qualify with the full projected property tax payment. AIME was instrumental in the passing of a bill in Maryland, and we are well on the way to getting bills passed in additional states. The impact that this has on Veteran homebuyers is unparalleled. Veterans often take advantage of the zero-down payment option with VA financing, and alleviating them of the responsibility to come up with thousands of dollars in property tax reserves at closing is huge. Allowing them to qualify for their mortgage loan without the projected property tax payment in cases where they are exempt can mean the difference between being able to purchase a home now or having to wait. It also gives them more buying power!
This is a small sampling of the things our advocacy efforts are addressing, and we’re just getting started.
We are also finalizing our State Captain program and plan to roll it out in March! Each state will have an Advocacy Captain and a Community Captain who will work together with local trade organizations and AIME members to make an impact at the state level. Having Captains representing every state will create open and direct lines of communication so AIME Leadership can continue to set our priorities based upon the needs of YOU – our valued members. All of AIME’s efforts are directly supported by our Members and Partners. In addition to our

1 年The Captain initiative is a great idea - I would imagine that there are some issues that vary greatly from state to state. I am not sure how to approach this one - but it seems like many of the state regulators don't understand the broker model at all and it makes for some strange conversations at audit time. Maybe pitching a standardized broker audit template (created by AIME) and push to have states accept it so that audits become more standardized from state to state?
