Dear Leo,
I know how hard it is to give your best in a work and not be recognized for that. I've been there too many times. And not only me, but the whole world.
In fact, this is very regular and happens every day in any job.
Probably this is harder for you because your frustration puts you on a global media spotlight.
At this time there are millions of persons all over the world making fun of your new chance to get an Oscar (or not).
I am one of them. But believe me, I don't do that because I am a mean person. I do that because I reflect on you my expectation of recognition. This is a human being thing.
What probably you don't know (and I realized recently) is that you don't need an Oscar to be the best actor. You already know that every time you ends a day of work the feeling is that you're complete. Or every time one person goes to the movies just to watch you.
Trust me: the same people that makes fun of you today are the same ones that admires you for your work, your environmental initiatives and were sensitive because of your shyness when you met the Pope. This is a type of recognition. A strong one.
I really hope you receive your award tonight. But in case it does not happen, just smile, drink some beer and go to the next project.
Good Luck!
