Consistency-decoding changed my life!

You will be surprised to know it was not discipline that was my problem : it was something else. So all of you who think being consistent requires you to be disciplined, well you are here for a shock.

Around two years ago, I was stuck—professionally, emotionally, and mentally. Nothing seemed to be moving forward. I remember staring at projects that weren’t progressing and deadlines that kept slipping away. It was frustrating, and the constant guilt of not delivering was unbearable.

Thats when I first started the 75 HARD challenge. And that’s when I realized: I wasn’t struggling because I lacked discipline; I was struggling because I was forcing myself into patterns that didn’t work for me.

So, I decided to decode my own consistency.

Here’s what I changed:

  1. I stopped multitasking. Instead of juggling multiple priorities, I broke my tasks into smaller chunks and tackled them one at a time.
  2. I leaned into energy-driven work. Afternoons drained me, but I thrived at night. So, I shifted my deep work hours to evenings instead of fighting my body’s rhythm.
  3. I removed distractions. Social media and notifications were energy vampires. I started putting my phone on silent for specific hours daily to focus better.
  4. I built triggers for habits. For example, I paired evening tea with reviewing my day’s progress and planning for tomorrow. One habit made the next feel effortless.
  5. I celebrated small wins. Checking off even the smallest tasks gave me a dopamine boost that fueled my momentum.

That’s it.

Consistency didn’t mean sticking rigidly to one routine—it meant finding what worked for me and doing it repeatedly.

Slowly, things started falling into place.

18 months later, I can see the difference. I’m more productive, less stressed, and in a much better place emotionally and mentally.

Am I perfect? No. But I’m miles ahead of where I started, and that’s what matters.

Here’s the biggest lesson I learned: We don’t have to fight against ourselves to be consistent. Instead, we need to decode our patterns and work with them. That’s how true, sustainable progress happens.

Consistency-decoding changed my life. Maybe it can change yours too.

This article is an eye-opener for me right now. I'm also grappling with the challenge of doing many things (personally, mentally, socially and physically) without reaching my goals. Thanks for sharing!
