Letter 19: The Power of Calm in Crisis: A True Story of Facing an Accident and Living to Tell the Tale
Had a one-to-one with a life-and-death scenario when I met with a car accident. This is a letter to myself on what I realized within 24 hours of the crash—and maybe some of you can take something from it too.
Yesterday, I met with an accident—a car crash. Thankfully, I am fine, and so is my family. This experience reminded me of one crucial lesson: in moments of crisis, the first thing you need to do is stay calm
Accidents are sudden, unsettling, and can shake the core of our daily lives. Whether it’s a car crash, a workplace incident, or any unexpected mishap, the immediate aftermath can be filled with confusion and stress. Here are 5 aspects I believe I will carry with me—and might help you too:
1. It Happens in a Jiffy & Priorities Become Crystal Clear
It all happened suddenly. I remember smoke, gas surrounding me, my glasses thrown off, the pressure of the airbags on my chest, and one single prayer in my mind: “My family should be safe.” The impact was so severe that my car was completely crushed from the front. In that instant, what mattered most became starkly clear.
2. The Universe Protects in Mysterious Ways
I don’t know if it’s the good wishes of friends, blessings from my parents, my family’s love, or divine intervention, but it felt like a miracle. I am deeply thankful to be safe and to have my family unharmed. It’s moments like these that reinforce the belief that something greater is watching over us.
3. Hanuman Chalisa: A Moment of Divine Connection
The music playing in my car at the time was Shri Krishna Das’s Hanuman Chalisa. I truly believe that Shri Hanuman Ji protected me. He has always been a constant theme in my life, and lately, I’ve felt drawn to the powerful energy of bhakti and kirtan. If you’d like to hear it, here’s the link:
4. Write Down Your Important & Not Urgent Tasks
We often neglect the “Important but Not Urgent” tasks in our lives. This experience has called me to rethink my priorities
5. Gratitude is a Must
In the rush of daily life, gratitude often takes a backseat. This accident taught me to pause and appreciate the life I have, the people around me, and the small moments that make life meaningful.
Final Thoughts Accidents can be life-altering, but they also offer moments of clarity and growth. Staying calm, practicing gratitude
I commit to living a more Intentful Life.
Thankyou for all the friends and people who have prayed for my well being.
