Let's Talk About Some Tech

Yep, I'm a big geek. I love apps, platforms, algorithms, datasheets, and more. I can get lost for hours inside the really good ones. It's not just a nerd thing, it's an entrepreneurial thing. Good use of good tech can move your mediation practice from just workable to pleasurable and from functional to efficient.

Using the best tech with and for your clients says a lot about the work you do. It also tells your clients (without having to tell them), that you take your work seriously enough to invest in appropriate tech that makes their experience with you better - maybe the best.

What's my favorite tech tool this week? It's Immediation.

If you like mediating on Zoom, you'll LOVE mediating on Immediation! I recently took the tour and was blown away by what Laura Keily and her team have created. This is exactly what we need to mediate online at the highest level while making the process the most customer-friendly for our clients.

Immediation was originally rolled out in Australia and New Zealand, and now they've created a new component specifically for the USA!

Created by a lawyer, Immediation streamlines and optimizes hearings, arbitrations, mediations, negotiations, witness conferences, and more. Immediation is in use by the Australian Federal Courts, New Zealand Government, and major law firms.

What I love about it:

It's a seamless, intuitive digital environment for handling complex legal interactions.

It has superior video and collaboration in the browser; no software download is required.

It has end-to-end, cyber-security tested video, doc-encryption, GDPR compliant, sensitive to legal ethics, and confidentiality.

And, you can configure your Immediation Platform experience, adapted to your practice's use case, branding and workflows. Even more .. API?integration options are also available.

Formulating and Asking Questions in Mediation

Ms. O’Sullivan will deliver a brief overview of The S Questions Model developed in her book: 'The Mediator's Toolkit: Formulating and Asking Questions for Successful Outcomes'. She will then focus on some of the methods of questions that can lead to a paradigm shift in the thinking of parties, in particular, the ‘Journey of Inference Questions’ which explore a person’s journey from their observations and interpretations through to their resulting and linked actions/reactions. She will then illustrate two types of ‘Other People Questions’ which gently open a party’s mind to considering some alternative perspectives.

Please consider donating to Ms. O’Sullivan’s preferred food bank, Trocaire.

I'm reminded of Arthur Clarke's observation that advanced technology is perceived as magic by primitives. That's how I feel about Immediation, after testing every other #ODR platform out there. Thrilling news that Laura Keily & Co are coming to the U.S. A game changer for those who are applying practical business experience to developing consumer-centric scalable programs that deliver access to justice to...not thousands, MILLIONS of people who need it.
