Let's talk robotics with Dr Dawid Preller

Joining me today (eps 164) is Dr Dawid Preller ! Dawid enjoys solving challenging problems by integrating and optimising systems from multiple disciplines into an efficient, reliable and safe solution. With a profound understanding of both heavy industries and aerospace sectors, he brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the field of robotics and automation. He has over 25 years of experience in creating, delivering, and operating fit-for-purpose complex intelligent systems. Dawid holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, showcasing his strong technical background. As a co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Australian Droid + Robot , he plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and developing cutting-edge solutions for the mining industry, particularly in the area of remote data acquisition for underground applications.

Before devoting his work fulltime to ADR, Dawid completed his Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering. He is a published author and reviewer for the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets and presented at numerous international conferences including the AIAA International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference and the AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control conference. This experience led to the design, manufacture and testing of the small-scale Austral Launch Vehicle, a reusable swing wing 1st stage rocket booster, as featured in Aerospace America June 2016. He was also part of the RFDesign team working on Boeing Phantom Works’ advanced AI and swarming unmanned aerial technology.

In his limited spare time Dawid enjoys trying to play golf or competing in Large Scale Aerobatic Model competitions with a personal best of 2nd place in the Australasian Large Scale Aerobatic Championships.
