Title: Miami-Dade County is pushing for more funding for the Biscayne Bay Water Improvement Grant Program. Here's what you need to know!!
Why? Miami-Dade County is taking action to ensure Biscayne Bay’s water quality is improved. Biscayne Bay is a critical and irreplaceable component of the environment, culture, and economy of Miami-Dade County.
What's Changing? The County is requesting the Florida Legislature to provide increased funding and dedicated funding to ensure programs to protect Biscayne Bay, such as septic to sewer and wastewater projects, are able to be funded adequately.
Timeline: Miami-Dade has provided this resolution to the Florida Governor, Senate President, House Speaker, and Miami-Dade State Legislative Delegation. This resolution will be pushed in the Florida 2023 Regular Legislative Session (January 6, 2024 through March 8, 2024) to be included in the 2024 State Legislative Package.
Advocacy: Miami-Dade County is actively engaging its state lobbyists to champion the proposed legislation, while also planning to include this initiative in its 2024 State Legislative Package.
