Let's Talk About the Podcast Movement Community

Podcast Movement is the world's largest podcasting conference, and it's a?textbook example of how to build a digital community to drive ticket sales for your conference.

?

My friends Dan Franks and Jared Easley, the co-founders of Podcast Movement, have done a fantastic job using digital spaces to connect podcasters.

?

Their annual conference attracts about 3,000 attendees each year.

?

Meanwhile, their Facebook group boasts over 85,000 members.

?

Dan and Jared?will tell you that the online community has played a big role in driving both ticket sales and sponsorship revenue for their in-person events.

In fact, they'll tell you that when podcasters first join their Facebook group,?many don't even realize that the community?hosts a?conference. The group drives first-time attendees who only discover that there's an annual event after they?engage with other podcasters online.

?

And that, right there, is why launching an online community is the secret to driving ticket sales for your conference.

?

I have been speaking at Podcast Movement every year for nearly a decade. This year, I will once again take the stage in Washington D.C., alongside luminaries such as Ira Glass and Rachel Martin.

?

I will be speaking about the power of community building for podcasters.

?

I'll talk about?how communities are different from audiences, and how they can unlock new streams of revenue beyond advertising for content creators.

?

If you're a podcaster, I hope you'll join me for my presentation on Wednesday, August 21st at 11:15am.
