Let’s talk about personal power.

Why fit in when you were born to stand out as a leader? Helping Leaders find Their Authentic Way to Lead
In December, I attended my first networking event at The Chamber of Commerce and while I was in the registration line, I was asked to speak at an upcoming event.
The topic was “Finding Your Power.”
The moment I was asked, my beautiful brain served me the standard and anticipated line of “Who Are You?” Who are you to talk about power? What do you know about power other than working at a power plant?
I noticed the judgement and, I know my brain. I thanked it for its concern about my safety and reminded it (and myself) that my dreams are on the other side of my comfort zone.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch (er in line) I had a choice to make: Would I stand in my power, or not? Without hesitation, I said YES.
The event took place last Thursday, and there were ~40 amazing and powerful entrepreneurs. ?It was so much FUN and I’m grateful to have shared my thoughts and guide them through an exercise to find more of their power.
In preparation for this event, I spent a lot of time thinking, researching and reflecting on all my experiences as a former HR Leader and Coach to refine my own thoughts about what it means to find and harness one’s power.
Personally speaking, I noticed there were people, places and things I gave my power away to; such as anxiousness, the need for control and perfectionism. On the flip side, I noticed places where I intentionally took my power back, like quitting my full-time job and letting go of people and relationships that drained my energy.
While I can’t place hand on heart and say I’ve sealed these energetic and power leaks fully, I can say I’ve never been in my power more than I am right now. Loving what I do and doing what I love is powerful and if this is your wish, I can help.
Here’s what I’ve learned about personal power:

The way I chose to define POWER for myself is owning the fact that while I can’t control any circumstance, or person, place or thing outside of me I get to choose what I think, how I want to feel and what I want to believe. I'm not delusional, I'm intentional about taking things through my own discernment because I am the subject matter expert on myself.
I get to explore and love my reasons for my choices and my decisions which builds my self-sufficiency. I get to build self-trust by having my own back and if I’ve made a miss-step, I get to build self-compassion and choose again.
Some days I win, some days I learn.
It’s safe to say it’s a journey, not a destination.
