Let's talk about our failings: Make February 29th - Mistake Day!

It is time for us to acknowledge that we all make mistakes, so let's celebrate this connectivity and help each other understand that it is all part of the process.?
That is why I am proposing Thursday, February 29th as Mistake Day, because if you think about?it,?the folks who determined how many days we have in a year kinda messed up so that we need this one-day correction every four years - and we all understand and accept?it.?[*As a side note - I have been wondering if all the folks on salary know that they don't get paid for this 'extra' day - so don't worry about taking time off work to do this - they're not paying?you?'extra'?anyways!]?
With this one day taken to celebrate all that 'err,' we still get 365 days to celebrate our?successes.?On this day, let's celebrate our resilience and openness by sharing a business or career mistake we've?made.?And because we are here writing about it, obviously survived it, and assuredly learned from?it.?Even if the experience initially stung, it likely offered valuable insights and helped us?evolve.
Most of the time, we use LinkedIn to share our successes, accomplishments, promotions, new?positions,?or academic achievements - but we all know that this is not the complete picture of our careers and it wasn't accomplishment alone that gave us all the?lessons,?tools and wisdom that we have used to move?forward.?So, before this weird extra day, spread the?word!?Share this post with your network and let me know if you'll participate in Mistake?Day.?Ya know I'll be sharing a doozy of a story?myself!?Those of us who have been around the block a few times know there is no shame in making?mistakes.?It's how we handle them that defines?us.
I hope you accept this challenge and think about which one [and we all know there was more than one] you will?share!?So, see you on Mistake Day and I look forward to gaining some collective wisdom from the gifts of failing ... but getting back up and moving?forward!
Thanks,?Folks!
p.s. Hey Folks - there are two mistakes in this post and after 10 guesses - I will reveal them both.

1 年I love this, Martin! I have a few stories to share on the 29th. It truly is a gift to fail-fast and fail-well; I especially appreciate your sentiment, "...it's how we handle them that defines us." Well played with #MistakeDay2024

1 年this is all about leadership and we tend to and should not avoid mistakes or failing , instead, we should face it and learn from it
