Let's talk about open data, care coordination, and patient-centred care.
Having just returned from the HETT Show in London, where we spent two exciting days with our partners and customers, listened to interesting presentations, and gained valuable insights about the future of digital healthcare, I can say that three key topics stood out. Open data, care coordination, and patient-centred care. These are the cornerstones of Better’s mission, so it was great to have the opportunity to discuss (with the many visitors to our stand!) how Better could help address some of the current challenges in these areas. ?
It is clear that health and care organisations value data more than ever before. The use of open standards is on the rise, and it was great to see #openEHR being called out as a core standard by the NHS Technology Strategy Architecture and Standards team. This clearly reflects the success of the projects and use cases built upon openEHR across the NHS, many of which use Better products or have been built on top of the Better digital health platform.?
We also continue to see new and emerging models of care that must be designed around the patient, not any individual provider organisation. Digital, data, and technology must support this shift, enabling key initiatives such as levelling up social care, caring for people closer to their homes, and the delivery of collaborative care pathways that engage closely with the patient. ?
While there is still some way to go, I am confident the #NHS is working in the right direction in all these areas. John Quinn , NHSE Chief Information Officer, summarised it nicely during a panel at HETT: "We have to put digital, data, and technology at the heart of transforming the NHS”.?
I cannot agree more. And I can assure you, at Better, we will keep searching for better solutions and innovative products to meet this goal and to enable truly integrated patient-centred care.
