Let's talk about... Mornin' Routines! ;)

Let's talk about... Mornin' Routines! ;)

Anyone else hummm the lyrics "sex baby..." in their head or just me? Lol?

Ok, Mama's - We all have one... Right? A Morning Routine, whether we like it or not! And yessss we all can probably work on ours... so maybe it can be better, I know some people don't really think about it and others who LIVE by it or somewhere in between.

Ring a bell to anyone? Soooo I've done my research... and actually this is NOT to diss ALL the articles that I read through - I LOVED them + even got some really good ideas and information from them...

The one trend I found a lot though that Momentum Mavens is advocating kind of against - is that we won't tell you what your morning routine should be to be successful. We feel that is truly UP TO YOU. Have we found success in ours? Sure... But what we do want to do is help mama's get real with where we're all at... Does that resonate with you?

If it does, cool - stick around. ;) You're in good company...

In this series we dive into "ALL-the-things" to help find that silver lining, balance in life. THE ONE life you CHOOSE for YOU. Even at times when you may feel like you don't have a choice, you DO. And we're here to help you choose YOUR HAPPY. Where we empower Mamapreneurs who feel stuck, get unstuck in personal and business because it’s always about MINDSET and they work together. We believe this to our core. We've been there, done that sort of thing... We rise together. Through experience we've developed systems that can help Mom bosses live the life they want to, unconventionally and UNPOLIGETICALLY.

Let's get into it... ;)

Sooo, who runs the world? MOMS. ;) Who runs the world? MOMS...?

Do we all agree? I mean we naturally are taking care of everyone else, right? This is reflected in a study conducted by 99designs, the world’s largest on-demand design marketplace, with 71% of moms stating they are the primary childcare provider, even though 79% of them are married. And it’s also proven that our day typically starts with our children, whether that be thinking about them or interacting with them… this can also depend on how old our kids are. This same study found that 67% of polled mom entrepreneurs devote less time to themselves now than they did before starting their businesses. 67% wow!! Across the board, mom entrepreneurs struggle to take the time to prioritize their health, connect with their partners, and make time for personal growth. What does all of this have to do with morning routines? Everything.

“Life is a reflection of one's rituals and our morning routines set the tone for each day.”

ACTIVITY: Take out a notebook, journal or any paper and writing tool you got - this may even be a crayon ;) all is good… Start thinking about your last 7 days, write down how you started your day? Set the intention. Pay attention to the commonalities. Now, if you “have a morning routine” how does this line up? If you don’t, it’s ok - reflect on what it is right NOW. Because in order to interject transformation, we must be honest about where we are currently and whatever it is, know that it’s OK. We’re human. Stand tall against the intuition to judge ourselves right away. If you’re anything like me, I don’t care how many times I tried crafting the perfect morning routine, it’s just not. So if you relate, maybe that’s a sign to give yourself more grace or flexibility? This is purely to help you see where you’re truly at, again right now.?

Now pick 5 things that you do every morning and this could be from the moment you wake up, you check on your kids to make sure they’re breathing. Yes, I do this. Or they’re running in by you. Whatever it is… “THE TRUTH IS THAT WE ALL HAVE MORNING ROUTINES. WHETHER THEY’RE HAPPENING INTENTIONALLY OR BY DEFAULT, WE ALREADY HAVE A WAY THAT WE GO ABOUT STARTING OUR DAY.”

We’re getting somewhere, right?

This is a hard one… we’ve probably all heard, in order to be the best version of ourselves for our kids and our businesses - we have to start with the self, yes??

Ok, so now think of just 5 things that best support YOU first in your morning routine.?

Are they the same??

I think we can all choose ONE area or thing that we want to improve on? Of course we can, right we’re MOMS! ;)?

But we become what we repeatedly do. It’s fact, and an effective morning routine is less about the doing, and more about the being. Imagine the cumulative effect of starting your day with intention, focus, and energy. How would this impact your health, your relationships, your family, and your business? The target is not the morning routine itself, but rather the person you transform into along the way. So in this moment, who are you? What’s your I AM… Statement?

Find the BALANCE! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no matter what gets in the way, just find time each day to connect to your purpose! And when I think of balance, the first thing as a mamapreneur right is connecting the two - family and business. Isn’t that the dream? Do what you love, what makes you HAPPY... And why we do what we do??I believe business is personal… who has been at a job and been told, “It’s not personal, it’s just business?” I despise this to my core, because one I like to go against the grain anyways but because of things I’ve experienced in my career, I just think there’s no way it could have not been personal. You can leave the stories up to your imagination right now, I promise we’ll get into it later because there are so many topics that can come out of this as I’m sure you can see… The point is they intertwine, right? Think about your experiences with your career, has it been personal to you??

Want to put your balance to the test? See where you’re at here.?

Before we go for today, this is NOT a top 10 things to add to your morning routine list… but more of a “Steph's takeaways” and hope it sparks something in you because I believe there is NO one perfect morning routine… It’s all about what inspires YOU, so here’s what’s been inspiring me lately. ;) ?As moms, there’s much at stake in whether we run the day or the day runs us. The way we experience and respond to the day-to-day is being closely watched by our kids, creating a default “mode of operation” within them as well. Action is the most powerful evidence of what we truly promote to our families and businesses. It should be fluid, you should enjoy your morning routine so much you don’t want to miss it. To the point where your soul craves it and you’re excited about it each morning. It can be flexible and change from season to season or look a little different each day.?

Your morning routine should motivate you, serve you and help start your day. What will you choose to promote at the start of your day?

  • Move my body! I have a hard time sticking to an exercise regimen and there are sooo many things out there on the internet for free that can support you, so just taking some time to find again something that you’ll stick to. ??This was a great find for me - ?https://geniusmomhacks.com/busy-mom-exercise-routine/
  • Shock the system! This is a good one too, just as an example lol I would never wake up at 4:30 Another idea is to wake up super early, like 4:30am for the first week. The next week you set your alarm for your new wake time, let’s say 5:30am, and now it will feel a lot easier. Like doing the polar plunge…
  • A secret is, start your morning routine the night before! Straighten up before you R-E-L-A-X, so you can start your day with a home that feels clean and organized. Limit screen time before bed and set your focus for the day ahead. These actions will have a huge impact to the success and productivity for the next day.
  • More water… Get a head start on your water and drink a glass before starting your day. There are many benefits to making sure you get your recommended water each day such as good health, prolong signs of aging and helps energy and brain function.
  • Dress to feel good. Even stay-at-home moms, you don’t have to wear professional work clothes to feel cute and look good. I can feel amazing in a cute workout outfit or shorts and a tee shirt.
  • Eat a healthy meal! Jump start the day with a healthy meal and vitamins. Don’t feel you need to get creative here. Eat the same thing for breakfast all week long if it means an easier morning for you.
  • Embrace the chaos… Love this! Oftentimes morning routines are presented as time alone. That will not always be the case for moms. It’s still helpful to practice a morning routine even with your kids around. I think it’s great for kids to see us taking care of ourselves. For example, if they see our nose in a book instead of there instead of a phone that also sends a great message to them.
  • "Silence is golden." Finding time to JUST BE with my thoughts is hard BUT also sooo important!
  • Write & Read… Funny how we feel a certain way about this being the primary focus for our kids in school but it makes sense, right? Taking the time to journal in the morning is another great way to help you clear the clutter from your brain. Moms often suffer from popcorn brain. We have so much to remember on a regular basis it can help to write everything down like a brain dump. Journaling, as well as reading, can also be a way to explore goals and ideas you have for yourself or your family in the morning time can be an opportunity to flush out those ideas before the stress of the day kicks in.
  • Mirror Mantras! Seeing this when you wake up can inspire your mindset and how you feel for the whole day… Another great example of this is putting sticky notes at your desk or places that will remind you what you’re “playing for.”
  • Self-care is necessary. And this doesn’t include running errands or showering in my book, lol. More on self-care later, but what does self-care mean to you?

In 2023, the State of Motherhood survey report shows the majority of moms (62%) report getting less than 1 hour to themselves each day! But we deserve our time—and the same effort that we pour into everyone else around us. We deserve to put ourselves first sometimes so that we can find and reconnect with ourselves, nurture our inner woman and not get lost in the midst of all that motherhood is. For many moms, it is the biggest identity crisis that we will ever experience. We get so used to just going through the motions that we forget to be mindful and intentional about ourselves.

If there’s even one thing you get from me today, please let it be this - it all comes back to mindset!?

We can take charge in our morning routine and ultimately in our lives.?

Whatever your morning routine is, please allow yourself to be fully present in every step—root yourself in this. Practice gratitude in your routines. We are blessed each day.?

This simply taught me how to slow down—something that I believe every mama needs a reminder to do in the midst of doing it all.

We need to remember to place mindfulness at the root of our routines—and at the center of our lives. Because motherhood and being an entrepreneur is often a rush—but that doesn’t mean you have to get lost in the thick of it. Building an intentional morning routine is what you need to find balance—and truly be connected to yourself.

Because when you feel good about yourself, there’s truly no stopping you, Mama.

Till next time…?

Cheers to your success,?

Yes!!! I've been working on adding more me time to my morning routine, it really does help start your day right. My focus for the next month is limiting my screen time. ??

I take a 4 mile walk before breakfast or work......each day is better because of that.....
