Let's talk about ...loving what you do
Are you feeling like you're stuck on the hamster wheel and don't have time to learn or grow when you long to feel engaged and like your work has meaning and purpose?
TEACHING IS A GREAT PROFESSION AND YOU DESERVE TO LOVE WHAT YOU DO.
Unfortunately, over time, some things may have crept in that could be taking away from this, and now is the time to shift it. You can love what you do, be a great teacher, and have time, energy, and space for a life outside the classroom.
The key to this is knowing what gives you meaning and purpose, rather than seeking it beyond yourself. You see, we all have the ability to cultivate this within our work, teams, and outside of organisations too. For some, meaning and purpose are found in the tasks we complete at work, and for others it exists in other spaces such as with friends or volunteering.
What they don't tell you about meaning and purpose is that it may not be in everything you do, or as visible in some things as others. Some of us will find meaning in one thing, that another may not, and sometimes things that give us meaning and purpose may not always be fun, enjoyable, or easy.
Not all of us enjoy cleaning out our inboxes. Some people love it, the thrill of seeing 0 when they open up their computer, whereas others are happy with 4372 unread emails. Some of us find meaning in a tidy desk each day whereas some of us are committed to the daily adventure of finding our whiteboard clicker.
Purpose also looks different from one to another. The challenge with purpose though is that we have been told it exists in only the big things when it really lies in small, daily moments.

Purpose is smiling at your students each day, contributing to your team meeting, taking 10 minutes out of your day to play with your children or pets, or engaging in self-care such as a short meditation. It can be in bigger things too, but if all we do is look for these, we miss so many daily moments where purpose and meaning exist, which can improve our happiness and wellbeing.
I have an invitation for you...
It is time to redefine and redesign your wellbeing, so you can have meaning and purpose in each day.
