Let's Talk About Loss - Can you help?
One of the biggest personal achievements during the lockdown, other than getting out of bed and remembering to wash my teeth was becoming a trustee of Let's Talk About Loss.
I was a teenager when my Dad died. I didn't have any counselling or join any groups to help understand the grief I was experiencing. For me, the best solution at the time was to try to be strong, suppress the emotions and just deal with it!
Hopefully, as you read this and I write these words you realise that this was probably not the best thing to do when you are impacted by a significant bereavement. However, so many of us still today find it so so hard to talk about loss and ask for help.
A few years later after my Dad had died, I found myself having to take nearly a year off work having really poor mental health. Luckily in the end I got the support that I needed and a lot of it involved talking.
I do wonder how differently things would have been if Let's Talk About Loss had existed when my Dad died in 1995.
Let’s Talk About Loss, was created by the wonderful Beth in 2016 as a safe space to talk through and address the reality of losing someone close to you. 30 meet ups now run across the UK for young people aged 18-35 and campaign to encouraging everyone to talk about grief.
These amazing meet ups are completely free and run by an awesome group of volunteers. And here is where the ask for help comes in...

Can you help?
Firstly, if you know someone that may benefit from Let's Talk About Loss please do send them the link to the website or Instagram account.
Secondly, I am running the Hackney Half, in London and it would be amazing if you could donate just a few pounds to fund the work they do and support more people that have been bereaved.
I know that I have asked for donations in the past but truly every penny will make a real difference in supporting young people experiencing loss.
