Let's Talk event on Suicide

I was a panelist at Let's Talk discussion on suicide at the Portico Cafe in Tampa FL. I was there to bring awareness and insights on Veterans and Military suicide. Veteran suicide and veteran suicide postvention awareness, intervention and training are VCVs primary services in the community of Tampa, Pinellas, Orlando and Jacksonville. We provide SafeTalk training, stakeholders on Hillsborough County's Mayor's Challenge to prevent Veteran Suicide and have a program that provides emotional support to families and veterans who lose a veteran to suicide called "Veterans and Families Outreach Support to Suicide Survivors (VFOSSS).

I was pleased to see Veterans in the audience. We believe the entire community/village plays a major role in eliminating Veteran suicide.

I know the topic of suicide is not a happy subject to discuss. ?Suicide is preventable. ?Don't be afraid to confront the issue, if there is someone you are concerned about. ?These SafeTalk trainings give insight as well as tools to use. ? Regarding veterans, remember, we lose 18-22 veterans a day due to suicide. We can all make a difference!!! ?Thank you!!!
