Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely week so far!
I can’t believe it’s June already, this year is absolutely flying by!! That being said I’m looking forward to summer and have a couple of exciting things planned ???
Before we get started how has your May been, have you been loving the bank holidays or struggling to cram your work into a four-day week?
Today we are talking about The Ordinary’s latest billboards, getting into social media and stopping the comparison
Get comfy and let’s get started!!??
Today I want to speak about The Ordinary’s latest billboard campaign ??
Instead of highlighting benefits or forcing sales they opted for simple but effective copy that showcases their brand values
So often brands look for another way to make sales, without emphasising what it is that they stand for!
The Ordinary products are amazing and the names reflect exactly what they are! This honesty and transparency is great to see ??
What did you think about this campaign???
I’m really excited to welcome today's guest. Meet Carina Farrell , she is sharing her journey into content creation??
Discovering a New Path: My Unexpected Journey into Content Creation
We're often told to pick a career when we leave university, with the expectation that it will be our job for the next 50 years. However, two years after graduating, I discovered a passion for creating content on LinkedIn, despite having no prior experience. I didn’t want to pay for another university degree or sign up for courses. I just wanted to have fun creating content for myself and see what would happen. My worst-case scenario was that nobody would notice; the best case was that a few people might leave comments on my posts. I had no specific goal in mind. As time went on, I realized that what I considered a hobby could actually be a full-time career. Coincidentally, within a couple of weeks, I was approached by two personal branding agencies to see if I’d be interested in applying for roles with them. Frankly, I felt underqualified, having worked in consulting and translations as a project manager, not in social media. This experience taught me an important lesson early in life: there is much more room than people think to learn on the job. You don’t need years of experience to start in a new field. There are companies out there that recognize passion and potential for growth and are willing to take a chance on you. So, if you feel like it’s too late to pivot careers, it likely isn’t. There are opportunities out there, and your passion can open doors you never expected.

I love this advice from Carina! There are so many ways to gain knowledge and experience in social media without going down the route of a formal qualification. Building your personal brand and giving content creation a go can open up so many opportunities.??
Today's advice is something that I think a lot of social media marketers struggle with, including myself.
Starting out a social media manager isn’t easy and whilst it’s so exciting it can also be tricky to navigate at the start. When I started I thought I had to offer every service because if I didn’t then I wouldn’t be as good as the SMMs that can. But that’s so untrue, it’s completely okay to just offer the services you feel passionate about. It is YOUR business after all!! ??
When you’re looking to build a personal brand you don’t have to mirror everyone else or base your worth on them. Comparing yourself to someone further along in their journey won’t make you happy or benefit you.
Someone else’s success doesn’t come at a cost to yours, there’s space for us all! ??
You’re where you’re meant to be, so do what feels right for you and don’t feel the need to compare to anyone else??
Today my post prompt is to share an industry myth and explain the truth ??
You could even create this in the style of a meme to add a bit more fun!
This allows you to be relatable whilst also providing value and clarity to your audience
I look forward to reading these, please use #DiaryOfAYoungMarketer so I can come and show your post some support.
Have a lovely rest of the day??
