Let's talk about authenticity!

Let's talk about authenticity!

Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely week so far!

Tomorrow marks one year since launching this newsletter!! So to start off I want to say a huge thank you to all of you reading this for the support ??

Today we’re talking about Super Bowl ads, staying true to yourself and checking in with loved ones.

Let’s get started!!??

Today I HAD to talk about a SuperBowl ad ??

One of my favourites was E.L.F. BEAUTY I already use their products so needed no convincing but I absolutely loved the concept of this!

This ad included stars from the Suits cast, Meghan Trainor and other celebrities. And of course no courtroom would be complete without Ronald from Jury Duty ????

This courtroom themed advert was fun and entertaining to watch!! Love it ??

What do you think? What was your favourite Super Bowl ad this year?

I’m excited to welcome today’s guest, meet Nadezhda Beaumont ! She is sharing her insights on staying true to yourself??

“Hi there! I’m Nadia, I am a full time Marketing Manager and the founder of (soon to launch) Arc Social where we help female business owners become empowered in their marketing, socials, and networking. My career in marketing is an interesting one, I trained as an actress, moving into the visitor attraction sphere as a performer and eventually working my way up to Performance Manager for SeaLife London (there isn’t much I can’t tell you about fish). I then had a baby and made the jump into marketing where I developed my love for good, strategic content (and am now full on obsessed).

I want to talk a little about why staying true to yourself and being authentic in management is important. This extends to both social media management but also the managing of people.

I think at this point we are all aware that authenticity is a big buzz word in the digital world. With the rise of super engaging UGC, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and even LinkedIn shifting focus to making content about how we see the world, with viewers who are more invested in seeing what is ‘real’ and aspirational rather than a semi-impossible version of ‘real’. It is therefore important that we are mindful of how we interact, staying true to our own mission, vision and values, while bringing added value to our content.

Here are my top tips for dynamic social content, which doesn’t distract from who YOU are.

- If you don’t already have them, create your own mission, vision and values - where do you want to be? What do you want to achieve right now and what are the values you stand for? Setting this out can help guide you in staying authentic to who you are in any situation.

- Do you understand who you are talking to? Find your niche and the audience within it and do all you can to understand them. The big thing to think about is what are they scared of? Instead of positioning yourself as the best option, position yourself as the best guide. People want to figure things out for themselves - empower them to do this. Show them how using your service will help them to become the best version of themselves.

- Be people obsessed! Clients. Team. Company. The way I have been taught to manage is that people are like plants. The way you take care of a sunflower is vastly different to the way you take care of a cactus and this is also true of your audience and the content you create for them. The audience who needs more sunlight will react vastly differently to the segment who is not ready to purchase. Both need nurturing but in different ways.?Become obsessed with finding out these plant personalities and then talk directly to that person in the way which best helps them.

- Try not to dwell too much. I find myself overthinking EVERYTHING. In the grand scheme of things, you are the main character in your story… but so is everyone else. So long as you are acting in line with your own set of values, staying authentic to who you are, you know that everything is coming from a good place. No one is going to remember that spelling mistake you made once, try not to think about it when you are falling asleep at night!

- Change your mind-set about networking - try to see it as a room full of opportunities rather than a room full of fear. Don’t get me wrong, those of you who know me will know I come across as confident (it’s a wonder with the amount of rejected auditions I have had). In terms of networking, I know it can feel daunting taking the first step. I always think ‘what’s the worst that can possibly happen?’. Someone doesn’t want to speak with you- ok well they’ve missed out on an opportunity.

- You just don’t know who you will meet and what will come out of networking. An opportunity missed is worse than a rejected conversation. Plus, I LOVE to hear about all your experiences, I always learn something when I speak to someone I don’t know.

- Be the person who mentions other women in a room full of opportunities. I am a big believer in building other people up, and seeing other people thrive really makes me happy.

- Say what you think. The amount of times I look at comments on LinkedIn and it is clear they are commenting for the sake of it. You know the ‘wow interesting take, thanks insert name’ comments. I want to know WHY you find it interesting. Start a conversation - you never know what will come from it.

It can be overwhelming portraying yourself online and you open yourself up for criticism in doing so. For me, knowing that I am living up to what I have set out for myself, that I hold myself accountable to my values and that I create my content with these things in mind really helps anchor me.

Happy content-ing. I can’t wait to see what you post!”

I love this advice, authenticity is such a big focus at the moment and it’s something that looks set to remain. When you’re young and just starting out it can be scary to show personality but you can build an audience that want to hear from you! ??

Today’s advice is to check in with someone you care about ??

Taking time for those you love is so important and your message may just make someone’s day!??

Let’s spread some love today!

Today my post prompt is to tell your audience what one thing really gets on your nerves in your industry - we want to know why!!
