I’m sure you’ve all heard about their latest stunt, but this isn’t their only marketing success.
The ‘should have gone to Specsavers’ ads are iconic, relying on humour and relatability.
This slogan has been a success for over 20 years!
Such a great way to build brand awareness and get everyone talking??

Today to mark newsletter number 30 I want to give back to you all and offer my support. Here are my tips for those of you looking to start your personal brand ??
?Optimise your profile - If you’re reading this you definitely have a LinkedIn profile but it may not be the best it could be. Make your headline clear, add relevant experience and don’t be afraid of letting your personality show through.
?Connect with people in the industry, a personalised invitation is a big positive! Whilst building your network takes time having even just a few good quality connections can inspire you.
??Save posts for inspiration and start to make a note of what you feel you can provide value on. If you’re quite apprehensive you could even create a collaboration to ease into it.
?Start posting - it’s scary at first but the sooner you start the sooner you will feel comfortable. Your first posts won’t be your best, mine sure weren’t but this will allow you to see what works and you can adapt from these. A personal brand truly can bring life changing opportunities so that little uncomfortable feeling at the start is so worth it.

?Ask for advice from those with more experience, learn from their journeys and be open to feedback. The value they can provide will allow you to grow!!
?My bonus tip is to batch create. You won’t always have time to create and share content, plus if you’re scared to post scheduling could help. This is the easiest way to stay consistent and build a personal brand whilst still having time for you.

When you’re starting your career or giving freelancing a go it can be lonely!! There’s so much support on here and it is SO valuable to speak to others.
Today I’m encouraging you to connect with other social media managers, they understand what you’re going through and can make the experience a little bit easier.
I am so lucky to have made some really lovely friends who are also marketers and I am so grateful for their support!! ??

Yes, it can be daunting speaking about your mistakes, no one wants to admit they were wrong!
