Let's start the year with the best energy! ??????
Hello everyone! We're back full of energy ?? after the Christmas holidays. Spending quality time with family, enjoying the excitement and special moments with the little ones, resting and disconnecting from the daily grind is priceless. Even so, for us, there is no "return to routine" because we are committed to generate the best energy always, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. ??
We closed a year of great projects to start another even more exciting one, in which we want to continue connecting with people, leading the global energy transition, and promoting a sustainable model that benefits everyone.
Here are our challenges for 2025 in a minute ????
Good news to end and start the year ??
For us, these dates have continued to be busy and very positive:
2. Additionally, 2024 was a great year for us in the stock market with a rise of about 10.8% and reaching all-time highs per share, which has led several analysis houses to view our evolution and future in the stock market very positively ????.
3. It was also a year of major corporate operations; specifically, five that totaled €14 billion: the sale of combined cycles in Mexico, which allowed us to focus on renewables; the purchase of ENW in the United Kingdom, making us the second largest grid operator in the country; the acquisition of the percentage of Avangrid that we did not control; the alliance with Kansai to co-invest in the Windanker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea; and the alliance with Norges to invest in renewable projects in the Iberian Peninsula.
Better grids, highways of clean energy ?
Firm in our position to invest in and improve electrical networks, we have presented the fortnightly business plan in the United Kingdom through ScottishPower - our subsidiary in the country - in which we will invest €12.83 billion in transport networks in the United Kingdom.

This plan will include new and improved transport infrastructures in central and southern Scotland, including 12 new transport substations and the modernization of 450 kilometers of circuits, 87 kilometers of overhead lines, and 35 kilometers of underground cables, all to increase the capacity of the British transport network, meet demand, and facilitate the connection of up to 19,000 MW of clean energy to the grid.
Renewables around the world ??: Spain
In our series "Renewables around the world," this time we stay in Spain to talk about innovation in onshore wind with the repowering of two facilities in Castilla-La Mancha. Thanks to this project, we will install 22 new, more powerful turbines that will replace the 139 that currently make up these two installations.
Time pass for everyone, and in the past, wind turbines were much smaller and less powerful, so many were needed to produce enough energy. Today, technology has evolved and allows us to reduce the number of wind turbines while producing even more energy than before. These will have a unit power that is six times that of the first ones installed in Spain 20 years ago.
In total, we will reduce the number of turbines in the community by 117 and increase energy production by an average of 30%. As for the blades and waste we dismantle from the parks, we are already working to ensure they are received and recycled by Europe's first recycling plant for this type of component, ENERGYLOOP , in Navarra.
Light for historical places ????
And last but not least, our mates from Neoenergia have modified the lighting of the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Concei??o in Itanhaém, Brazil, as part of its Cultural Lighting Programme. The historic building ?? has undergone maintenance and renovation over the last few months.
The more than 492-year-old Convent of Nossa Senhora da Concei??o has been a temple of faith and devotion for more than 400 years. Located at the top of the Itagua?u hill, in the Historic Centre of Itanhaém, its construction is in the colonial Baroque style of the 16th and 17th centuries and began around 1639. The Convent is the oldest building in Itanhaém and one of the first churches built in Brazil.
