Let’s start our new year with 4 STOPS!
I know you all did some new year's resolutions but let's talk about something more practical. If you feel your life is a little disorganized then New Year’s is an opportunity to reset, regroup and revitalize. We all admire people who are energetic, fit, rich, and successful. No matter what you want to achieve in life and regardless of where you are right now, who you are now whether you are broke or poor, you can have the success you desire. But you must commit to one thing, which is you must change your bad habits into a good one. A small improvement can give us a sense of control over our life. I will discuss 4 STOPS (good change) in brief, if we can add in our habits will lead to results that are unimaginable to us. Let’s discuss 4 STOPS:
1.??????STOP Sleep Late
2.??????STOP Wake up Late
3.??????STOP Long Screen Time
4.??????STOP Be Messy
Stop Sleep Late
Sleeping late is not only destroying our productivity but also bad for our health as per many scientists. According to results from a study published by the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in?ScienceDaily, sleeping late could be one of the unhealthiest ways to kick off your morning. On the other hand, starting off the day right can lead to increased productivity and focus throughout the day. You may find many articles on the effect of sleeping late I will not discuss those here. But if you want a disciplined life where your personal life, family life, social life, and religious life will be balanced and organized then good sleeping habits play a significant role. My ideal bedtime is 10 pm and my wake-up time is 5 am so I can do my morning prayer, meditation/ exercise. Six to seven hours of quality sleep is also important for a healthy life.

STOP Wake-up Late
Waking up late is correlated with sleeping late. I mean if you sleep late you will wake up late. Besides some people wake up late because they oversleep. On the other hand, if you sleep late and wake up early that could be harmful to your focus or cognitive ability too. I will emphasize on a fixed sleep schedule with a satisfying amount of sleep. It will boost your physical and mental health and you will likely feel more energized during the day. ?
STOP Long Screen Time
We all know chain smokers, the person who smokes one after another cigarette. But what do we call the person who watches one after another YouTube videos, one after another Instagram/Facebook reel, or addicted to TikTok? I’m not saying you have to stop using phone, tv, and electronics right now but think about it, how too much screen time destroy our physical and mental abilities. Long screen time leads to lower-quality sleep and lower-quality sleep leads to less focus and affects our brain. Study finds the blue light emitted from your device screens suppresses the production of melatonin (a sleep hormone) in your body. This affects your sleep cycle and inhibits restorative sleep. Besides, long screen time not only eats our time or productivity but also leads us into causes moral degradation.
STOP Be Messy
I wrote before that a small improvement can give us a sense of control over our lives. This is all about building good habits. You may be living in a tiny place, but who cares if you keep it neat and tidy? When I say stop being messy, I mean physically and mentally. Go to bed early each night, wake up early, clean your bed right after waking up, keep your station clean, organize your closet every week, make a good study habit, work on your dream project, practice your spiritual obligations, do exercise, make your daily and weekly schedule, and highlight your priorities, these all need to organize your messy life. Go slow but steady. If you want massive success, then you need to take small actions each day. Everybody remembers the winning moment and every win consist of many small pieces and time. The more you can make those small pieces perfect, the brighter your success will look.
Best wishes to you all in 2023 and beyond.
