Let's Start at the Beginning!

As it's a very good place to start!

Firstly, before we get into the tips and tricks, I wanted to say a big thank you to all those that subscribed and took an interest in this newsletter. I was blown away with over 500 subscribers in just a few days. Now I'm keen to ensure I pack them with value so I can make it well worth your time to read. Please do let me know if there'e any hot topics you'd like me to cover in this series of unseen to unstoppable with brand photography

On to the juicy content! .....

With your brand images, you want to take your audience on a journey into your world on a path that leads to them choosing to work with you, as you become their obvious choice. With your story telling and building know like and trust through your images it's a very natural process as you become relatable and real.

This journey starts with your profile pictures and banners as these are the first thing people see. Imagine they are your shop window, encouraging your audience to look inside to see what you have to offer, 24/7. They are your welcome, your handshake, your hello. They will follow you everywhere so it's important they reflect you and all that you stand for, showing what people can expect from you.

Here's 5 top tips and pointers to check your image is creating the best first impression for you and your business

1 - Ensure it is current and looks like you look now. We want to get what we see and don't like to be surprised when we meet you! It's all about building trust. Just imagine you were on a blind date and the person you met was nothing like their profile picture. You may be a little disappointed and certainly would think twice about trusting them, maybe deciding not to meet again! It's the same in business. Build trust from the outset with an image that reflects you

2 - Have an image that is seasonal. People are confused by a winter look in the summer, even in profile images. You will appear much more relatable and on trend with a photograph that reflects the current season

3 - This may seem obvious but appear approachable and welcoming. Human nature is that we respond better to a smile

4 - Look in the direction of your content as, the science bit, is that the reader will follow your eyes and we want to point them in the right direction.

5 - Reflect your brand colours and values to start the customer journey as you mean to go on. If you're not sure how to do this, look out for my Unseen to Unstoppable Masterclass on 20th July. Profile Pics that Pop!

Once you have your perfect profile pic, it's a great idea to create some stand out with a back ground colour that's on brand but also gives your image a pop. Bright colours are brilliant for this as we are naturally attracted to them. You can see my example above with the yellow from my pallet. Take a look at a post with many comments or your notifications and see what you're drawn to. Almost certainly it will be the profile images that are striking due to bright colour, either in the image or the back ground. You are much more likely to click on them and read what they have to say.

The psychology of colour is absolutely fascinating and a topic I'll save for another newsletter. In the meantime, check out these steps to creating a profile picture that has real stand out.

One final tip: ensure you maximise the SEO of both your profile image and banner by renaming your photo. Rather than jpeg or png 6534728....call it something pertinent to you whether it's what you do or using keywords.

All awesome stuff, as usual, Kier. ?? I've not forgotten about you, despite the radio silence. As you might have noticed, I'm stacked... and then some. So much so that starting my own newsletter is still dragging its heels on my to-do list. ?? You know I'll be I'm touch when I'm ready. Great points Kier Adair. I knew it was time to change my profile picture when I handed over a business card and the girl receiving it said' Is this you'????? What do you mean by 'naming your profile picture'? Did not understand the how nor reasoning for that point.
