HURRRICANE NATE MORE PROBLEMS WHAT WILL WE DO
HURRICANE NATE is approaching and again we are not prepared. here will be evacuations and then flooding in New Orleans unless it changes course. There pump system has been called Fragile. I as a person who worked in Operations for 37 years cannot understand how they are still Fragile. For the last hurricane they had problems. Seems that you replace maybe 5 at a tme and rebuild them and use the rebuilt for spares. There has to bee a better way to manage the problem. Can't be cost as it has to cost more to correct the Flood Damage caused by Failure. I have written in the past and whwn structures are damaged when you rebuild they have to be able to withstand winds and maybe raised to prevent flooding. After Katrina a lot of work was done but in reality the housing was just done cosmetically hoping floods won't reoccur but they did and they will. We can't ignore Nature but we can try to deal with it. I do understand that for tornadoes the wind force is incredible but somehow Buildings have to be rebuilt to a least be habitable after the Fact. We build along the shores and storms come and houses fall and we do the same again. We need seawalls where there are residents and they can't be just sanddunes that wash away after one storm and then reddone again. Where there are forest we need to have Developments with a resoanable fire stop arounf them.Where there are mudslides the walls have to be reinforced with concrete so houses don't slide down them or the hills slide into them. There has to be better methods than exsist now to prevent the hardships people endure.
