let's relate impressions to nudity

A lot of people of marketing firms will try and sell you on how many impressions they can get you. For example, I sat down with a client the other day and they had a proposal for a Google Adwords campaign. The firm was promising tens of thousands of impressions per month.

As a business owner, it sounded amazing; certainly when comparing to my 200-300 impressions.

Yet, they had a very specific service offering and the likelihood that tens of thousands of people were looking for their service per month given the population of the area was totally unlikely.

So I argued less is more. Fewer impressions targetted to the people that are actually looking for the services resulting in fewer clicks on the ad (which costs money per click) would likely produce a far more valid lead.

Think of it this way. A man at a soccer game runs out onto the field naked and eludes security for some time before being tackled to the ground.

A lot of people saw this guy naked, right?

But how many of them really wanted to?

Remember maximizing your impressions isn't always the best strategy.
