Let's be politically INcorrect.

Have you also noticed the rise in posts about Mental Health Awareness? I love the fact that it is becoming more acceptable these days to talk about topics that used to be tabu not too long ago. Mental Health is incredibly important - and we still do not talk about it enough. The statistics of suicide are alarming and saddening to say the least.
Yet there is one thing I have noticed - and you know what it's like, once you see something, you cannot unsee it. People often talk about Mental Health, when they actually mean Mental Illness. This term is now classified as "politically incorrect".
What we need is more awareness about Mental Illness and more solutions in the space of Mental Health. Do you agree?
I love that our times have changed, so people think about their use of words a lot more. I love that we name things in a way so they are not debilitating or labelling us in a negative way anymore.
The danger of it all though is, that we sometimes sweet-talk situations by talking about Mental Health, when we actually mean rather dark thoughts or situations, the Illness.
We need to name things by what they are. Yes, politically correct; being kind and courteous where we can. But when it comes to people, young adults, kids needing help, let's name the unthinkable and unbearable. And that means naming Mental Illness - even if it may be classified as "politically incorrect".
In a nutshell:
Mental Illness is the pick up point.

Mental Health is the destination.
It truly is that simple!!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Let's support each other. Let's not tear each other down for using words incorrectly. Let's focus on what's really important in all of the matter and rather find solutions and collaborate to support.
Let's talk about it!
Here is an amazing interview I had with Dylan Sessler this week. What he shares has touched so many people around the world. Over half a million followers to date, simply by sharing about Mental Illness and Mental Health, straight from his heart.
