Increased mill productivity through a mine-to-mill study at the Chapada Mine for Lundin Mining.

The Chapada mine is an open-pit copper and gold mine in Brazil. As extractions went deeper, the proportion of more competent ore increased, impacting production. That is why, a team of experts from Lundin Mining, Enaex, and Hatch initiated a mine-to-mill optimization project to maximize plant efficiency.

After the analysis, Enaex Brasil proposed to implement a new methodology with a specific fragmentation model:

• Lundin Mining reported a 5% improvement in plant productivity after partially implementing the recommendations.
• Anticipated productivity increase of 13% to 28%.
• No need to acquire new equipment, the results were achieved through the implementation of cost-effective actions.

Increase face advance at the UG Booysendal mine for Northam Platinum LTD.

Located in South Africa, the Booysendal UG2 mine operates as an underground platinum extraction site. Throughout 2022, they faced substantial face advance challenges. Enaex Africa, with its expertise, promptly initiated an in-depth investigation to determine if the face advance could be increased by changing the blast design.

Following analysis and testing, three new designs were proposed:

• The advance increased from 2.7m to 3.0m.

Intercement in Brazil sought to improve its limestone extraction process at its facility in Candiota, Rio Grande do Sul. Enaex was engaged to assist with this objective, utilizing its expertise in granulometric analyses and blasting engineering techniques.

Enaex implemented significant changes to improve the efficiency of

the blasting stage:

• Optimization of rock fragmentation.
• Increased efficiency in loading, transportation, and comminution operations.
• Reduction of fuel costs and energy consumption.
