Let's Meet Blessing Mhlanga

Can you tell us a bit about your role?

I am in charge of the fraud prevention and discovery team. Which involves overseeing the performance of the team to ensure all cases of financial crimes are properly handled. This included developing and implementing action plans for detecting fraudulent activities and ensuring compliance with all laid down policies and procedures for work operations

I also design and implement fraud prevention strategies and processes necessary for minimising the risk of illegal financial contrivances and provide professional recommendations to business establishments on techniques necessary for limiting the risk of fraud during which I liaise with legal counsels and law enforcement agencies to develop and execute plans for the resolution of fraud cases.

John F. Kennedy says, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” Mukuru has a culture of encouraging people to grow through learning, this value has completely changed my life as I realised that wisdom comes not only with age but through learning.

What surprised you about working at Mukuru?

I joined Mukuru 10 years ago, it has grown so much, and the sense of family spirit is across the board despite us being in different spheres of the world.

How has your Mukuru journey been so far?

My journey with Mukuru has been eventful. I started as a contact centre consultant and am now a Remittance Fraud Team Lead. Mukuru has allowed me to grow, and I am still growing. Through the journey, I learned that hard work really pays off. It takes time, but it will eventually.

What does a day in the office look like for you?

To oversee the daily activities of the team performance and provide guidance. Working tirelessly to create a fraud and risk-free environment for both our customers and the company by conducting thorough fraud investigations and recommendations.

And finally, a fun fact about yourself?

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors and my favourite hobbies include hiking, soccer, traveling, and swimming.
