Let’s Make 2025 the Year of “First Time Right”

As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect moment for reflection. In the canmaking industry, we often see the same pattern repeat itself when it comes to climate challenges, particularly with heat problems.

The quick fix? Add more exhaust systems. Still too warm? Add even more.

But instead of solving the issue, this approach often makes things worse. Large volumes of warm air are pulled into the building, creating significant negative pressure. This, in turn, allows unfiltered, dirty air to be sucked into the production hall—jeopardizing hygiene, safety, and product quality. Additionally, this worsens the indoor climate throughout the year. In the summer, the influx of warm, humid air raises temperatures and strains cooling systems, while in the winter, the negative pressure causes cold drafts, making the environment uncomfortable for workers and disrupting operations.

Why does this keep happening?

The human brain tends to favor short-term solutions, and adding exhaust systems seems like the logical choice. However, this approach overlooks the bigger picture and ignores the root cause of the problem.

The result?

Inefficient systems, higher operational costs, and unresolved issues that impact productivity and hygiene standards.

The real solution: Start with a Climate Study

Before jumping to solutions, it’s essential to step back and assess what’s truly happening in your facility. A climate study is the key to understanding the full scope of the problem. By mapping out the current conditions, you can identify the root causes and design systems that address them effectively.

How does it work?

? Step 1:?Analyze and measure current climate conditions.

? Step 2:?Design a system that works right from the start—First Time Right.

? Step 3:?Use CFD simulations to validate potential solutions.?

Let’s break the cycle in 2025

As we enter the new year, let’s commit to smarter, more sustainable approaches to climate control. No more quick fixes, no more wasted resources. Instead, let’s focus on long-term solutions that truly make a difference.

Here’s to a productive, efficient, and climate-ready?2025. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
