Let’s LIVE beyond our Lives…

A thought that brought joy to my heart might bring to yours too!?

The year 2021 would be unforgettable for many. The devastating second wave of Covid-19 affected almost every family in the country. Some survived the carnage, but for many, the loss is irreversible. There are so many lessons for humanity to take on from here: health, love, compassion, and how to embrace uncertainty when life throws us a curve ball.

While my foray into the elder home care space and bringing respite to those we help, brought some inner peace, it also led me to want to do more. We must and can do more. As a caregiver, many grieved - known and unknown have reached out to me to seek advice on how they could do something meaningful, something that would bring them real peace. And that’s when the thought of much-needed “Organ Donation” struck my mind. What could be a more meaningful way to show “you care” other than donating your organ to save a life ... unknown to you but a LIFE of a family. Your act of kindness might actually give life to everyone related to the person who you gift your organ. There can be nothing more uplifting.?

Do we know that a single person willing to donate organs after death can save up to eight different lives? That’s because we can donate eight major organs: the liver (which can be split and used to save two people), the heart, the pancreas, a pair of kidneys, and a pair of lungs. It translates to each one of us being able to save up to 8 lives. What else could be more uplifting and gratifying? To be able to save the lives of strangers in an increasingly estranged world is something that feels so much bigger than each of us. I am acting on it...and I hope this reflects on you too.?

The decision to donate organs is not a small one in any way. Although it is a personal decision, you need to get your loved ones to agree to this. But do consider the fact that (on a conservative side) every 20 minutes, someone gets added to the national transplant list and that around 20 people die every day waiting for a transplant that never arrives.

You lost your loved one, but you can save someone’s loved one! Suddenly it brings you a sense of joy and peace…and hope for many.
